Sad news for Aussie Arcade - long time member Felixthadog passed away last week

It is with the deepest regret that the moderation team announce the very sad news that long term and much loved member Matthew Doran AKA Felixthadog passed away late last week.

Matt joined Aussie Arcade way back in 2007 when the site was under two years years old and was a regular contributor across most of the forum for all of the time he was a member.  He was the thread starter & longstanding editor of the Pinball Owners List thread which he maintained right through until June 2022.  This thread put owners of games (particularly rare games) in contact with each other for repair and maintenance, sourcing of parts and sharing or resources.  He was a regular attendee of meets in his home state of Victoria and was quick to have a laugh and  a joke.

I first met Matt in 2010 via the old AA chat room, and soon caught up with him in person at some of the early Victorian meets shortly after.  He was always a gentleman, and was both liked and respected by all of the people who know him.  As an online contributor he shared his knowledge for the benefit of others whenever he could, as well as donating time to help AA run more smoothly.  His numerous posts and questions relating to Judge Dredd formed much of the learning for the JD I own now.  He will be sorely missed by all in the hobby who knew him.

Matt's family have asked for their privacy during this difficult time.  The Mod team are unsure if there will be a public service of any kind for Matt.  If Matt's family ask us, we will provide details of any upcoming service.  If no information is forthcoming please spare a though for Matt as one of the genuine good guys of the Australian pinball and arcade hobby.

Very sad news , Matt was one of the first guys I met in Melbourne and was an absolute gentleman of a guy at all times.

Always had time for a chat on the phone , at meets , in fact anytime.

Such a genuine person through and through ! I will miss you Matt , RIP and condolences to his family.

Taken way too soon.

Nothing new that I can add that hasn’t been said already, other than we’ll miss you buddy.

Attended several Melbourne meets with Matt, including here at my place.

RIP and condolences to family and friends.

Way too young - under 50 I believe?
