Game story:

Rainbow Islands is a Taito arcade game that was released in 1987. The game's subtitle is "The Story of Bubble Bobble 2," and it's a follow-up to Taito's smash hit Bubble Bobble from last year. It's the second of the Bubble Bobble series' four arcade games (followed by Bubble Symphony and Bubble Memories, but itself has two direct sequels: Parasol Stars and Bubble Bobble Part 2).

Please start a new post for each score you submit, with your score as the first line and a screen shot of your score and initials. This game will end at 9a.m. United Kingdom time on Sunday, April 24, 2022.

Please make sure your settings are as above. No continues are allowed when submitting a score and must be played from the beginning of the game. No pausing. No auto fire allowed. No stitching of INP files with save states, No cheats allowed.

Games can be played at the arcade. You must ensure the arcade operator has the game at the MGL game settings for the submission to be valid.

no time to put in + laptop with 8BitDo controller and now my mame has crashed, up against it in this MGL. Posting this to get something up as I might not get another chance for a couple of weeks.

Played loads of this on C64, then Amiga version which often topped review charts at the time, programmed by the legendary 'Andrew Braybrook'.

The C64 version had shorter rainbows, felt faster & had a charm other versions didn't, I thought so anyway 🙂
