VPGL 21 - Game 3 ~Kiss

Kiss was released by Bally in 1979 and is a 3 ball SS pinball game.

A 'Kiss' prototype was built which used speech. It was an emergency response to Williams' 1979 'Gorgar', the first talking pinball machine, so Bally pulled a game off of the production line to experiment with, and Kiss happened to be the game in production.

Score Submissions:

Please make a new post for each score you post, with your score as the first line of your post, along with a photo or screen shot showing your score. This game finishes Sunday 20th February 2022, Midnight pm Sydney time.

We will be playing the regular 3 ball game for this competition. 

No continues are allowed when submitting a score and must be played from the beginning of the game.

757,790 wow seems to work better with a good nudge to keep the ball out of the side lanes. I was pussy footing around too much. Incredible this is one of the first machines with the ringtone music. I’ve scripted in Kiss music if anyone is interested let me know and I’ll set up a link.

Which table version did you script the music into?  Im interested in having a look.  The tables I have are older versions which have the music scripted

Here you go legin. This is the link to all the files. In the VisualPinball/Music folder create a sub folder EM and place the kiss folder with the music into the EM folder. Path for the musics is (VisualPinball/Music/EM/kiss). The ROM and Backglass that I have are also included. Right magna save startsand changes the music track and left stops it.

I pussy footed around a lot with this game and I found it better to try and bang the targets off the slings and play more aggressive. I find the scripted music suits that style of play.

Good to see you having a crack Pinzealot. Not sure if this will work for you but I found that by nudging off the slings I could take out the lower targets then I spent a fair bit of time aiming at the lanes to the top with the objective of getting the middle rollover and lighting a whole row. That seems to be the lowest risk shot. Sometimes I've fluked hitting that rollover consecutively off the top bumper and coupled with the 2X bonus I managed a couple of decent scores.... for my level anyway.  I find if I don't play table aggressively the side lines are killer.

Had the best first ball ever specials lit on everything max bonuses the lot …shits you that extra ball isn’t given thought I’d easily clock the machine and the next 2 balls virtually went straight away…still a good score 849,310

Is extra ball selected (F6), in the dip switches on your machine Mozzie or is it another issue  a making abcd the first time should be 2x and the 2nd time extra ball

I was introduced to pinball via this table back in 1980.   it was a toss up to either buy a huge bag of lollies  or put my 20c  into this machine.  glad i chose the latter 🙂

ThAt Russ is if you get highest score on your machine…there should be an extra ball awarded if abcd for second time

Hey Capp,  It must have been a huge deal when this came out with Solid State machines and the first music in a machine. (End to your EM nightmare?) I could only imagine how exciting that would have been. A nice memory. What are your thoughts on how the original machine plays. I really like the virtual reproduction.

Mrs Moz has made it hard for you to get that to happen Mozzie. Been some great games coming out of the swamp and the bar is quite high! Try and come in as second player in Apollo13 and steal the Blastoff!

The extra ball is working in my Game Mozzie. Not that helped in any game tonight. (Best game tonight was 695,000 but I’m starting to get the hang of letting the ball bounce off the flippers) the extra ball pays as soon as a,b,c,b is made twice. I’m playing the Bigus Mod.

862,290 I think I got the Mozzies. A lot of 20c to catch you. The extra ball is working for me. In 30 ish games I probably was above  280,000 free game territory half a dozen times. This is a tough game but a super rush when the collusus bonus gets lit and in the groove. Top choice legin. Keeping us honest.
