Comp details.

4 hours of qualifying with a 2 p.m start. Finals to be held after dinner which will be at 6pm but if qualifying can be done sooner it will be earlier. Please get your comp games finished ASAP so you have plenty of time to socialise afterwards.

Score sheets will be on each machine with attendees names on them. If you name isnt please write it down.

 

Format.

There will still be an 'A' and 'B' Division as per 2019 with equal prizes in both.

You play 6 games on the nominated machines with your best 5 results going towards your final standing.

The top 4 placed players will go through to the 'A' division finals . The highest 4 from the second half of the field will go into the 'B' division finals.

Finals will be on 3 randomly chosen machines with the 7,5,3,1 format of awarding points. Single round and the person with the most points wins. Tiebreakers are TBA.

 

House rules.

Please remember that Houseball is a social event, we are not playing for sheep stations. Please show the hosts and their machines the utmost respect as without them this event ceases to be a thing.

Please remove all rings/bracelets when playing.

You will be asked to leave if you are found abusing machines/other players.

Smokers please ensure you leave no butts around the place. The host should be able to tell you where it is ok to smoke.

As usual 30 will be the limit but may be extended at the hosts discretion.

And lastly, a bit of friendly banter is encouraged.

 

** Please note ** People will be asked to maintain social distancing and i will endeavour to provide hand sanitiser. If you have a small personal bottle of hand sanitiser it would be great to bring along with you on the day.

 

** If you have any cold/flu symptoms , please don't attend **

 

 

Food and costs.

$10 covers food per person.

$5 to cover the hosts expenses.

$5 into the prize pool.

Total $20 for the event.

Soooooooooooooo.... Lots of newbies. Nothing wrong with that at all, but what happens if it then doesn't allow established houseball attendees to rock up and continue the comp?

Problems/criticism only taken if a solution is given at the same time ☺�

 

I wanted newbies to come along and it not just become a “boys club� scenario.

Regulars said they weren’t on AA anymore so I now list it on Facebook also. I even sent a text to a regular and they missed out. Not sure what else I can do?

 

I think there are actually only maybe 3 new people on the list. I’m not sure how you would come up with a criteria for an “Established Houseball Attendee�.

If there are only 3 newbies, no biggie then. I just saw a lot of untagged names and assumed they were newbies, but they are obviously just non AAers

 

Ages ago, it seemed like Houseball threads used to open with pre-tagged names for the people who attended the previous meets. Then if they couldn't come, they would just remove their name from the list and then other people jumped in. I remember seeing the new threads, because I would be tagged as on the list due to being there for the last meet.

 

Hasn't been done in ages, so I assume it was changed to allow others to jump in as well.

 

I dunno, I like Houseball because it's always guaranteed I will know the majority of people there. There's always a crowd of regulars who go to all the meets, and it makes for some good camaraderie.

 

I have no suggestions on fixing it, I just don't want people to miss out. This one filled super quick, quickest I have seen in a long bloody time. Maybe because @Dicky hosts great houseballs.

I don’t every recall putting names in first. It may have happened if someone said put them in before the thread was up? Doing it the way you said would be a pain in the arse as I would have to wait on people saying they are coming or not .

 

Untagged names was because I had to quickly do the list while on lunch on my phone and couldn’t work out how to tag. I needed to get it done so people realised we were full.

 

The list would be even larger if I hadn’t added a few people as +1.

 

Grants Houseball always fills quick. Same thing each year.
