The Barn 2021 - bigger than Ben Hur edition

Recommended Posts

Yeah sorry my dudes. Edy is on my arse constantly but I largely have to ignore it in spite of his frustration. I also haven't read anything in this thread, so I'm going to leave answering any questions in the very capable hands of Edy.

Now i'm going to sound harsh in this next part because I'm time poor so you get the 'to the point' version of me.

How much to attend? - $100. I don't care if you come for a day or the whole 3 days the price is the same.

But that isn't fair - If you don't like it, sorry, but this is about making things easy for me, not you.

Kiwis - no fee payable

How do I pay? - paypal no exceptions. If you can't use paypal, either find someone to pay for you, or don't bother coming. I won't accept cash, and under no circumstances will I accept bank transfer. Its a pain in the arse, and quite frankly if something goes wrong, you may wait a year to get it back (there are two people on here who can vouch for that). Pinging me here repeatedly does no good because in between meets I don't visit AA anymore, and haven't for several years. So it is paypal or nothing. FYI the reason I don't come here anymore is because it is like an alcoholic walking into a brewery, best to be avoided.

What do I get for that? - well you get access to one of the largest playable collections of pinball machines in the country. Generally speaking 96 games at any given time ranging from EMs to late Sterns.

Where does the money go? - some money goes to Dan to cover wear and tear on his machines. Some money goes to Edy to fix stuff and keep everything running. Some money goes to my electricity bill. Some money goes to new parts to replace the things that break after a meet (usually 5-10 games). Almost always something goes wrong with my septic and I end up paying huge money to fix it. The usual. I also will keep snags and bread rolls flowing throughout the event so no-one goes hungry. Never ran an event in the pinball space that makes money, so no-one is being ripped here except me.

Covid - I'm going to assume everything works out just fine however I won't start taking payment till after this latest lockdown ends. If covid strikes again I will give everyone a full refund (this is why we use paypal, it makes refunds easy, and things that take up too much of my time don't happen).

Any questions, dump them in this thread and Edy will eventually get the answer out of me!

Cheers!

You forgot payment details Leigh.

So I'm guessing see how NSW goes with the latest Covid and if we do well then Leigh will post the Paypal details.

1st of july today so only about 6 - 7 weeks of this latest outbreak to clear up.

Yeah, sorry Jeff, I didn't read it properly. I can't remember if I paid for the last one that was cancelled either? If it's too hard to trace back, I'll pay again anyway. I'm happy both ways, because I just want to be there. Yeah.

$100 a head, shit I feed them home grown Lamb, a wild life show & they sleep over for breakfast too....My meet price is going up. :unsure

Yeah, 100 pins on for 3 days solid and non stop bbqs, and running repairs really adds up.

Most standard meets are $20 or so a head but wouldn’t be over $2k in power bill alone.

And wildlife shows are constantly on show. Especially the lions feeding at 1am.

My $100 worth...I'm glad it's that much...will sort out who really wants to come, appreciate the time, cost and effort of Leigh. Lets not forget about the guys who help make it happen (Dan, Edy, Furball and a few others). This is a meet to celebrate Rocky (and Toads for me) where we can talk about all the times together. All hosts know what its like to organise - $20 for the night doesnt cover anything - too cheap for the usual night meets. Anyway, like the snake above, I don't usually bite (when sober LOL) , but not this time - didnt take long. If you don't like it don't comment.

I'm just saying in the 5 years of meets at my place which included fresh meat for dinner & breakfast, I never charged a cent.

I'd happily attend your event's for free. I'd also happily pay $100 to attend one of these. Problem is they always seem to clash with something else for me.

You might think twice about that one if you had a 100+ turning up to your front door, staying over for three days and to have 100 pinball machines working? Why do you bother whinging, you can't compare yourself and nobody wants to hear you anyway? :unsure:unsure:unsure:realmad::p

$100 is a bargain! I’ll happily put more than $30 into a couple of pins at a pub in a couple of hours for some fun so a weekend of good times sounds well worth it!! But did I read it right that Kiwis get in free?? Is that for real? My mate Dave will be stoked!!

I think that refers to people making their way across the ditch

My meets have almost always been $100 or more for a whole weekend. Sometimes as much as $150 when comps are involved. People have very short memories.

If you don't like it, don't come. Problem solved.

Its wonderful what you do for the pinball community I'm sure, however if you would like to whinge or promote yourself, start your own thread, please refrain from doing so in mine.

Thanks!

Hey Edy, looks like it's all on you....

You know how much you love it....:lol:lol:lol

I'll say thanks in advance even it Covid still Fuks things up....

I'd be 1 of the 2 that Leigh has $100 in his sky rocket that he has mentioned from last year.

So am I paid up???

Even if this doesn't go ahead I don't want a refund. I had so much fum at the SHPC in 2019 I reckon between you guys I owe you for such a good time....

Let me know in due course when Covid pisses off....Hopefully

I can't wait....Looking forward to this more than the masters.....

No idea, was it you DAG? The other was Greg McMahon I know that much. If it was you you're already paid for this one. I returned the money to Greg the other day.

Common practice in wildball and most meets that I have been to that involve food. Yours might be diff given the distance that people have to travel. Also given the lack of machines the electricity bill would be a dick in comparison to 96 machines going for 3 days. But yeah if you don't wanna charge then at your choice :)
