VPGL 17 - Tournament Standings

Recommended Posts

With Games 1 and 2 now closed, the competition tally sees PPLBob at the top of the league table with solid scores in both games. JoeSoap and RusstyT are sitting equal in 2nd place with two solid performances each.

Those who won games 1 and 2, legin and Crakkers are 6th and 7th respectively 7th which really highlights the importance of consistently scoring well to stay competitive.

Who is your early prediction for the competition win?

With consistency proving to be the key ingredient, after 3 games PPLBob sits in the No. 1 slot with JoeSoap just one point behind.RusstyT keeping them both honest and the competition is very close there after with kane and Jed equal 4th.

Keep the good times and great scores rollling.

Game 4 is now closed and we see JoeSoap move into the lead. PPLBob slips to 2nd place and Jed with his win in Game 4 bringing him up level with RusstyT for 3rd.

Still a very close an competitive competition. Will be interesting to see how this one ends and who comes out on top.

Interesting to note that neither player in 1st or 2nd has a game win in this competition yet and either does one of those in equal 3rd.

I thought Zane had carry over form from VPL16 and would be a strong contender. PPL Bob is so determined but I think he is feeling the lag of running his own league. Joe Soap is just so consistent and Jed is finding form. Crackers just had that one bad game that Yogo has pointed out the nominee has reserved their own private room in hell. There is been some incredible games I haven’t been able to get close to including Mrs Mozz showing us she is the jungle princess leaving a lot of us fellas swinging from the branches. I like that some great games are being played by others not mentioned that moves the competition leader board. There is a long way to go but I’m predicting

1 Zane 2. Joe Soap 3. Crackers & Jed tied up for bronze. 4. PPL Bob

:lol

1 Zane

Only problem with that RusstyT is that we don't actually have a "Zane" playing. Nor do we have a "Wodderwick".....but we might have a "Bwian".:lol

Aaaah wokka wokka wokka. Well that’s it! Zane’s out and Kane’s in. And Bwian in for a podium. I’m sure if Zane the magic man was playing he’d podium. He just hasn’t heard of Aussie Arcade yet. Sorry about that name mix up Kane. Please accept my most humble apology and continue your flipper magic.

Yes - my league finals are consuming quite a bit of my time + a vacation last week didn't help matters. I will do my very best to slip down to 4th place for ya Russty!

Game 5 is now closed and JoeSoap stands at the top of the table. Stretching his overall lead but Jed and Kane both doing their part to shorten the gap between themselves and 1st place. PPLBob slips to 4th at RusstyT's request and mozzie1's game win has him climbing the league ladder.

Just passed half way in the competition and the win is still up for grabs and there is plenty of competition for the minor placing.

With 6 games closed and the final 3 games all in play we see JoeSoap leading with kane just 1 point behind and Jed just a further 2 points adrift. This competition is wide open and ultra competitive with single points separating a number of players. Just 2 (Aussie) weekends left to scramble for position so get in there and play some pinball.

7 games are now closed and the competition is tight. JoeSoap currently sitting in 1st place but just 3 points above kane in 2nd with Jed just one point further behind. The final two games both close next weekend and we'll know who our winner for VPGL 17 is, but there is plenty of gaming that can be done before then. RusstyT, Crakkers and PPLBob are all in a close battle and the Mozzies still have some scores to settle for household dominance. This next week will be very interesting.

Hey JAR, I think we need a re-count. The way I see it there is a tie for 1st place, with Kane & Joe Soap each on 880 points.

You've given Joe Soap a win on Eight Ball Deluxe with a score he posted for TMNT.

29 million on EBD would be an outrageous score!:o

Thanks mate, I've been so busy lately I haven't taken the appropriate amount of time to ensure I got it right... I'll make some corrections and come back with the final standings.

I have re-read the rules as published and thought I had set them slightly different to what they are. I'll make some sense of it and be back, but yes it does appear that they both have 880points .

The first VPGL for 2021 comes to a close and it has been one of the most hotly contested competitions ever with it coming down the the wire with the results of the last two games crucial to secure the winner.

Congratulations to everyone that participated but there can only be one winner. How can we only have one winner when two people have the same number of points?

Well, for the first time ever we have two players on even points at the top of the leaderboard with both JoeSoap and kane leading the way which means we need to refer to the published rules. In the event of a tie, a head to head game count is used to.

The following chart shows the competition between those two players (by removing all other players scores) we can see that Kane wins over JoeSoap with 6 wins vs 3 in the head to head battle.

So that the scoreboard displays the places as per the results of the rules we play by, an additional point was placed on kane's overall score which means it shows him as scoring 1 more point that JoeSoap although they truly scored the same points.

Capture3.thumb.PNG.c8959fb34562b11275e0b6edadaef056.PNG

In summing up, we see the tightest victory ever in a VPGL where head to head scores were required to separate the players. A massive congratulations to kane who stands tall on the top stop of the podium. JoeSoap pushed all the way and secured 2nd place and Jed manages to hold onto 3rd.

Great performances throughout this tournament saw game victories go to Crakkers, legin, mozzie1, Jed, kane, and JoeSoap which means 6 different people shared wins in 9 games.

In the Battle of the Mozzies it was mozzie1 just one position higher on the leaderboard than Mrs Moz who I am sure will be after revenge in the next competition.

Thanks to everyone for participating in this league and I look forward to seeing you all back for the next one. Don't forget to bring your families and friends if you're fortunate enough to have them. The Aussie Arcade VPGL is still the best (and only as far as I know) Visual Pinball competition of this style.

Wow, what a finish, never seen a tie and countback before. Well done to Kane, very consistent play and 6 wins is a lot. Really nothing between Kane and JoeSoap right down to the wire in the last game too.

Well done to all players. I had a lot of fun and played quite a few new tables.

As always thanks to you JAR for running an awesome tournament.
