Tbh I wouldn’t bother with going LED, it isn’t worth it. The original fluro tubes don’t run hot and if heat wasn’t a problem in the days where the cabinet ran 16 hours a day non stop it isn’t going to be a problem for a cabinet getting home use. But probably the biggest issue is that LEDs are very directional, even the tubes, whereas a fluro gives light out over its entire surface. An LED strip would give a very bright stripe behind the marquee and look weird, so you would have to find a very wide beam tube or work out a diffuser system.

Basically you are solving a problem that doesn’t exist, and $20 at bunnings will get you a new tube and starter.

Thank you womble i will take your advice

i just had this theory in my head that the fluro light would put unwanted heat on my marquee display image and cause damage as the rear perspex seemed discoloured

Also is the power plug with a pointed tip a standard plug say from jaycar im into computer building but its a connection im not familar with

thanks

Hey @Pac daddy

Heres the one I restored

https://www.aussiearcade.com/forum/s...-updated/page2

If your credit system isnt working as intended, I also put this up (see last post)

https://www.aussiearcade.com/forum/a...ai-tmnt-wiring

I cant really speak for the arcade PSU fan, as mine doesnt have one - but the rear cabinet fan on mine is connected to mains / distribution. Maybe just measure the diameter and search a generic replacement. Jaycar seem to have a whole range on their website, and the usual electronics places

Noticed you have a 2 player Street Fighter panel at the moment. If you cant find a replacement - Brendan Richards on facebook (not sure if hes on the forum, but try this link or search his name https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004639428592 ) makes new steel panels for these, and then of course Carson @MamePatrol from noodleshirt.com can do all the artwork for these, from marquee, to credit area, to panel overlay

The factory redford speakers are 8" and 8ohm. Most guys use these as a direct replacement: https://www.altronics.com.au/p/c2000...ne-pa-speaker/

A lot of these cabs get converted to other games over the years, and the 4 player wiring and credit system gets messed about.

If you get stuck, feel free to reach out. Ive done somewhat of a harness restoration for another member on here previously as well as my own

Just a question about the 8ohm speakers are they the only ones im able to replace with or am i able to use 4ohm speakers

Currently both speakers wired in parallel and 2 wires run to the jamma harrness

From my understanding that would output 4 ohms from jamma board correct me if im wrong with this theory

hey @Pac daddy

TMNT PCB manual is here: https://www.arcade-museum.com/manual...89__Konami.pdf

From the manual, it would seem its indicating it is 4ohm stable, which would mean it can either take a total impedence of either 4ohm or 8ohm safely

Based on the pic it seems to either want:

1. 2x 8ohm speakers in parallel (which should provide a 4ohm impedence from the 1 pair of wires coming out)

or

2. 1x single 4ohm speaker

or

3. 1x single 8ohm speaker

Has a big cross through the use of 2x 4ohm in parallel.

Also no mention of wiring in series in the manual.

I would play it safe, and grab a replacement (or even a matching pair if you prefer) from the link in the previous post, and run 2x 8ohm parallel

Let me know if you want any info on the harness wiring, I have put together a block diagram and connector wiring for the LAI TMNT cabinet.

Can't help with the pcb adapter cables as that is what i am missing on the cabinet I am working on (info in another post).
