Wanted - Reel to Reel transfer to digital services

Found some old reel to reel tapes when cleaning out our Nan's garage. Wondering if anyone can recommend a service provider to transfer to digital? Tapes are old, one is snapped. Hoping my Grandad's voice might be on there.

i found a player,recorder and box load of reels that someone threw out and some are marked 63 bathurst and 2 stroke engines dated 1979

I’ve found some in Sydney. I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Will update thread.

 

Just interested if anyone on here had recommendations.

Is the reel to reel player still tucked away in the garage somewhere?

You could do it yourself with something like this.

It is but really old and we are ok to pay for a professional service.

 

I would have to build an adapter to go into the headphone port. It’s a Philips EL3451.

 

I would like to get it running one day but I’d rather not risk the tape.

I looked into this a few years back and found a place at Windsor in Brisbane.....However....They were really expensive for what might be a total flop

I had all these tapes of which many would have been from my Grandfather giving sermons as a minister at church.

I did have one labelled as welcome to Australia and would be mostly in Dutch from 1951 or 52 when Dad and his family migrated.

The machine we had however was useless due to stretched bands and the age so Dad chucked it out.

It was a Phillips system and was probably worth a motza in its' day.

I would love to hear them again but suspect I never will....

The tapes weren't in great shape but they did a great job getting the audio off them. Unfortunately we didn't find what we were hoping but that's the way it goes.
