RGBinator - RGB breakout multi-board

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Here is a board I designed for any retro console cable you decided to make. It is large and uses through hole components so anyone can do the soldering. The ground of your wiring creates a strong anchor and output is spaced to suit PVM or extrons.

You can pull to ground, add multiple resistors, add capacitors, or do nothing and jump the lot. I designed this with every console in mind going into a cross point using BNC.

The board also has been handy to probe the signal under load.

You can get 50 of these from elsewhere for less than one at oshpark, but up to you. I used https://jlcpcb.com/ $44 delivered for 50.

Comment on the size, it was mainly to act as a spacer for the extron and therefore strain relief.

I plan on making a 3D printed box also.

Here is the extron out to TV/OSSC/whatever. We put it under the scope and had to go an 11k resistor to ground to get the TTL back down to spec. 440 ohm inline is suppose to do this but from all our testing under the scope it did not pull it back enough by a long shot, peak was about 4.2. The 11k to ground got us to 800mv. We didn't have 11k so there is two 22k in parallel. Probably a lesson to those making their own gear or buying from custom people to scope your gear I guess.

That a ghetto fume extractor underneath by the way. 2x 120mm fans pushing through a hepa filter.
