Jurassic Park or Stargate restore?

Hi guys, I’m looking at buying one of these two machines (not both :(). Both work, but need some repairs replacements, which is fine with me, as I’m looking for a machine to keep me busy :) JP is a little more expensive than SG.

 

The Dino on JP works, the rope light & stargate on SG works. Both cabs need a few touch ups & they are both playable.

 

Anyone have opinions on which way to go and why? Gameplay better on one? Parts unobtainium on another?

I find Stargate more fun to play

I haven't looked for a long time, but it used to be that to get gottlieb parts you had to use some prickly characters in the US.

 

*I take it back, I actually ordered from Steve, once back in the day. He just didn't take the usual payment methods, but all was perfect besides that

Yeh that’s what I thought about resale too. I’m totally unsure about Gottlieb parts - haven’t owned one yet.. I only own RFM at the mo.

 

I also live in Central QLD, the nearest Pinball service is 6 hours south in Brissy..

I found ordering from Steve Young at Pinball Resource (now owns everything Gottlieb) was actually fine. A bit old style but not more difficult, slow or expensive than anyone else.

 

It is true though that JP is slightly more valued (3000-4000) than SG (2500-3500).

Mostly a theme thing I believe, since gameplay is kind of equivalent (to me), but engineering - I think - is way superior with Gottlieb System3s.

Actually had me taken aback a couple of times, the first time i went over a sys3; all the detail under the playfield for a start.

If you hold the flipper button in whilst launching the ball it disables the 'shoot the pyramid' call out :D

 

I thoroughly enjoyed mine when it was 'semi-playable'....I just need to get the rebuild completed :lol

I prefer JP on every evaluation .

I'm still after some elusive Stargate parts but most are available at PBR , a must for the Gottlieb .

Holding in the flipper only reduces that pyramid call out on my device and it's NOT the only annoying call out that bugs me .

Anyone else in favour of JP? Most seem to be SG fans - I’m watching thru SG1 at the mo.. hehe.

 

Anything on either that I need to look out for? Parts breakdown or long term issues? Particular or weird maintenance/problems?
