I suspect everyone here collects other things ... Sometimes they find you and before you know it ...

Me ... Stovetop espresso machines and Uranium/Vaseline glass.

Coffee.jpg.c060df99b8d942c4c6cc57c29dde1d9c.jpg

I have 4 shelves of these machines on top of kitchen cupboards. (hard to take good pics)

These old aluminium espresso machines buff up to satisfying shine. The attraction? Form and function I guess.

Uranium glass glows under UV light. I take a UV torch to garage sales. I have more Uranium than Nth Korea.

There's usually a few uranium pieces of it in every antique or collectable store.

As my username suggests I collect too, mainly milk bar paraphernalia, little bit of gas and oil and other random retro bits and pieces.

My dream is to have a milk bar decked out with a few pinnies and all the collected crap with residential behind like they were often setup.

They're becoming a dying breed and the old signs get removed.

Apart from potato farming, also tinker with woodwork

Am currently taking 2 slabs ( timber not booze) and making an outdoor bar.

I'll have to have a chat to him about that, thanks Trav!

Cheers Trav

yes John but we tend to use our own spring loaded rig out at the farm - its just for fun. I'm actually pretty shit at it compared to my kids who kick my butt. I am old and appear to go up in glasses strength every few months! I blame too much masturbation when i was young. :D

I have been busy with regards my shooting hobby - check this out:

I bought a 96 Pajero and cut the roof off and fitted it out for spotlighting (great project for my teenage sons). I towed it out there on the weekend and we had a heap of fun with it. It's also been good for teaching the boys to drive a manual.

I did a bit more before I went to bed...

Za'tar:

For the lamb meatballs:

Bourbon BBQ sauce (I'd hate to see the full expanded ingredients list on this):

24127167_134135317293184_5167066865083613184_n.jpg24254001_744637859063810_8782518258377949184_n.jpg

All about about 1.5L. The .5L will go into basting the pulled pork while it cooks tomorrow. The rest will go on the finished burgers with a cider slaw

Whole lamb... I'm not so good with whole animals. I do have a great recipe for slow roasted shoulder with potatoes, artichokes, lemon and oregano and I did a bunch of racks with black olive & anchovy mayo and a salsa verde at a friend's place for Christmas last year.

My go to book for this stuff is a NZ guy Al Brown's Stoked: Cooking with Fire. It should be called the big book of meat. Least vegan friendly book I have. Lots of pictures of hunting etc. Lots of "sub prime" cuts, slow cooked etc. Nice venison tartare recipe too.

No, We butcher our meat into chops, roasts, shanks, Lamb steaks & Lamb racks. I've got so much cut lamb in the freezer at the moment theres no room for anything else.

10 - 15 years ago I had hobbies

Poker, fixing cars, puzzles, like rubik cubes etc.

Coins, stamps were even earlier

My hobbies seem to be short lived these days.

I still like to make things, or fix thinks, or do house renos. Or just watch movies, or cruise the globe on a ship :)

Arcade electronics is still top of the list of faves

I'm sure I can whip something up. We'll talk closer to the day.
