TMNT Marquee - True original LAI version?

Recommended Posts

Greetings All

I've created this post to see if it's possible to determine which is the true LAI TMNT marquee. There is a previous post on AA where 2 versions were submitted as the original Aussie LAI version. http://www.aussiearcade.com/showthread.php/80594-Lai-tmnt-marquee

That post never determined which was the proper original. Also the photos have disappeared (thanks photobucket). I did contact Noodleshirt (MamePatrol) to ask if he, or the friend of his who submitted one of the contenders for original LAI version, knew for sure which was correct but unfortunately we've not yet been able to find out. So I'm throwing this query out to those who may know... which is the true original Aussie LAI version of the TMNT marquee?

This first contender is the version with the foot soldier, Alex Baxter and a rhino in the middle of it.

The second contender is the version with the sewer manhole cover in the middle of it.

Can anyone out there say definitively which it is?

I have come across other TMNT marquees from around the world. The 2 in my first post were the only contenders for original Aussie LAI version though. For interests sake, here are some others I came across...

The first one is on every original LAI TMNT Ive seen. The second one doesn't even seem to be the right size (too tall or not wide enough). Funny how the background seems to be a cartoon version of the USA marquee design (4th marquee), and the turtles look like cut and paste versions of the standard LAI credit button turtles.

Another vote for #1. The only marquee I remember seeing back in the day, and the same I have on my TMNT.

Same here help unload the fist TMNT in Ipswich's Arcade/pool table den back in the day and #1 was the marquee on it.

Well then, that's six votes to zero.. unless somebody finds an LAI flyer that shows differently, I'd say our #1 pic is the winner for original LAI version. Thanks all

Ahhh a flyer, that's a really good idea.....

so I guess you want to see something like this?

or how about the cover of a Leisure Line magazine....

So, the next question is who has an art file for, or a physical copy to scan or sell of the proper LAI marquee? I've spoken to mamepatrol and a couple of other printers and nobody seems to be able to print this off as they lack the file. Could anyone post up the file or give a lead to someone with a physical copy for sale?

Thanks all

#2 is also a true LAI TMNT marquee. In the first marquee photo you can see the LAI logo. It appeared on the rare 20 inch 4 player version that I played back in the day and also owned for a period of time.

Great news .. AA member HolySNES had a friend with the LAI 26" tmnt marquee and he has done a great high-res scan of it for me. It looks great and I've forwarded it to Mamepatrol... Is there a way I can upload the file for all to use? (It's 55mb)
