What pins have been coming thru the Dedshed

Ok.

The diverter was a bit of a nightmare, but persisted and got it working pretty much every time.

Once everything was bent and aligned correctly, adding, removing springs then cutting out a bit of coil of the spring, it’s fine tuned.

Next problem is the trip coils.

The main one of the whole game doesn’t work. Got 3 of the 4 to trip

Swapped around the dud coil to make sure it was coil related, and the problem moved.

So now #1,#2 and #3 coils trip.

While I was at it, removed the 2 drop targets that broke while testing the game.

Another small problem was the left big ramp enter switch wasn’t working.

Ended up having to remove the ramp again and get a cable tie end to clean out between the switch and the ramp.

The Sega used a magnetic reed switch and it had some magnetised filings stuck to it.

Just enough to stop it working.

While I’m at it, had a closer look at the batteries even though they look fine.

Caught this one just in time.

So swapped it out for a lithium battery.

Tested and back up running, all leds finished. Just waiting on targets and coil and she’s done.

Looks nice. The coil "could" be worthy of fixing. Hairdryer to the coil wrapper to remove it. Unsolder the winding and start unwinding. They usually break in the first layer or two. When you find the break, scrap off the enamel and solder it back on the terminal.

I figure it has to be a break and not a short because you were able to get the problem to travel earlier swapping coils.

You may have more patience than me. I HATE waiting on parts.

But it tests ok at 54ohm same as others.

I’ve had to change these in the past and they’ve always tested as good.

At worst where I changed it to doesn’t really need to trip. And it was the one that always trips.

Tested on the board, transistors, chip etc.

Tested from the coil back to the transistor, no breaks. Proved it by swapping the coils.

But yeah I could look at it, but won’t.

Well, while I wait for Sega drops to turn up and before I get back to WH2O, had a visit from Pinoffski for the night with a Blackout.

Check through all the connections , coils, bridge rectumfriers and sorted some blown fuses.

Replaced a dud coil that was also wired wrong , replaced the Tip102.

2 bumper coils were wired back to front. Hit the sw for one the other would fire and vice versa.

Cleaned and adjusted a few switches plus drop targets.

GI had blown fuses ,replaced all the bulbs and was ok.

He’s a happy boy. It can return home with him tomorrow.

What pins have been coming thru the Dedshed

Looking at the pic with the mirror blades in

It looks like you maybe don't need to put spot lights in to brighten up the playfield :unsure

True.

But that was mainly to add light that stays on, bypassing the relay. Too dark when the gi switches off.

But it’s getting packed up and back to Sydney tomorrow. Can always add them later.

What pins have been coming thru the Dedshed

Now that Whirlwind is out the door, and the road trip thread has come to an end, and Star Wars Trilogy is done

It’s time to get back into Whitewater, now that boulders are on the way and full ramp set is here.

The Whirlpool didn't effect it any. Mainly the upper to Lower if i recall. It did not have a lip machined either check to see if yours does should be about 5mil wide and about half a mil machined in to it. I found with all the ramps thicker it was a tight squeeze but all good.
