jason1
Oh I dunno, I'm not sure Lego is overpriced, just that the other kids toys out there nowadays are so cheaply made with every expense spared that we forget what quality looks like, or costs. Just compare real Lego with the proliferation of cheap knock off competitor "Lego" and the quality difference is light and day. . Yer my understanding about this is Lego has a patent on the plastic they use for lego, so no other company can make exactly the same product to feel or look like Lego plastics because of it. So none lego bricks dont look or feel the same as lego. I think the patent is so strong no other company can use it for any type of plastic product even if they dont make brick style products. they certainly are distinctive from other brick makers so i agree with that and there is a reason for it. They used to have a patent on the stud and tube method of joining bricks together but it expired in 2010 and they were not able to renew it in Europe, thats why there has been a recent explosion in similar products, Megablocks, Microbloks and half a dozen no-name makes some of which are even compatible with lego bricks. Lego actually sued Megabloks in Canada for infringing their patent, but they lost.

Yer I heard that, But I think they still have the Patent on the plastics itself?, So I guess they will never be exactly the same from other makers as we are used to with Lego. XISLED
Below are my current sets. The Tie Fighter, Batman Tumbler and Imperial Shuttle are still boxed, I got them December and haven't had time to start building them. In December Big W was selling the Death Star for $599 which I was able to layby and will be getting it next month as well as Poe's Xwing.
ShipPagan
I have a number of sets from over my lifetime. Sadly by the time I got a job Lego was not a priority so it was here and there/gifts, so no massive collections. Lego wise nothing really built at the moment. Only thing still assembled is my self built Klingon Bird of Prey I built years ago, the disruptors are missing as they've gone AWOL from various house moves over the years and I can't remake them as they were as they were made from a couple of Technic Battle Droid parts and that was all I had of those specific pieces. Non-Lego wise I have the Megabloks StarCraft Battlecruiser on display at home and the Megabloks Syndragosa 'climbing' the top of my monitor. No pictures as I'm posting from work and internet has been out since Wednesday at home. :/ Some great collections and builds shared here, very impressed. bigredbird
There has been a Lego exhibition in the city near by me for the last couple of years called 'Brixhibition'. The size and hours of work put into these is impressive. Here is a slide show of some of the exhibits from last weekend. http://www.brixhibition.com/burniebrixhibition2015.html
r-hendo
Lego was my main toy when I younger, relived my passion recently when we visited Legoland in California. Been collecting the Lego dimensions sets and combining my love of video games with Lego building.
Pop Bumper Pete
it took a week , but here is the Lego Ghostbusters headquarters, the car is a separate kit this kit is huge, taller and longer than the Creator set that I have built in the past it has quite a detailed interior , even includes a Ghostbuster video game http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v280/TalesFromTheOutlane/Ghostbuster%20HQ6_zps8necgyjh.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v280/TalesFromTheOutlane/Ghostbuster%20interiour_zpsgoxmmuqo.jpg
danny_galaga
WIP on the Kwik E Mart. If I was doing this as a kid, I'd be up until the small hours of the morning and my eyes were red. But as an adult, it's nice to take your time and sit back and absorb it all. After all, when it's done, then what :D
felixthadog
Lego is one of the few toys that will still get passed on generation to generation. One day i will resurrect this beast from the box on the wardrobe. http://johntopley.com/images/posts/2008/01/28/lego8860.png Even after 25 years it is still awesome. I have this one too! I like making the dragster one as well :D Cheers, Matthew
