This is a pic of the test playfield. This will not be used in the final machine.

I think you need to start your own thread. I can see there's going to be a lot of interest in this.

I bought myself a wav-trigger for this project, soldered some headers on it and hooked it up to an arcade psu and my pc speakers to test it. The next job with it is to create more wav files for the Space Invaders sounds and hook it up to the oleds and pop bumper circuitry. DK, Asteroids, Pac Man and Frogger sounds to follow later. I might even use the Buckner and Garcia Pac Man fever CD as backing tracks?

I sent the Space Invaders sounds to your other thread in Arcade.

Here are the other sounds you mentioned earlier in this thread that you are going to need.

http://www.classicgaming.cc/classics/donkeykong/sounds.php

http://www.classicgaming.cc/classics/pacman/sounds.php

http://www.classicgaming.cc/classics/asteroids/sounds.php

http://www.classicgaming.cc/classics/frogger/sounds/frogger.mp3

Donkey Kong, Pacman and Frogger are all individual WAV files. The Frogger file is all sounds together, you may have to split and record them individually.

There are individual Frogger sounds available but you have to pay for them, I couldn't find any good free ones.

Let me know if you want a link to the paid sounds.

Looking forward to your completed project.

Time to try and get my head around writing the code for the bumpers and putting the wiring together. I'll have a 1hz pulse going to an Arduino Leonardo on each bumper, setting the frequency for the invaders animation. This will keep all 3 bumper animations in sync. An Oled display for the animation. A mosfet driver for the coil, a switch input from the bumper and outputs to the wav-trigger board for the sounds. There will also be outputs and a latch to an Arduino Mega for scoring.

I think that's it? I'll post a video when/if I get it all working.

The invader animation will appear on each bumper, when the bumper is hit the display will show the explosion sprite and the invader hit sound will be played along with the score being recorded. After a set or random(undecided) number of hits the ufo is displayed with its associated sound for a set period. If the ufo is hit during this time a random score is recorded and the associated sound is played.

It's at times like this I wish there was a beer in the fridge.

I received the Arduino Mega boards yesterday http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/06/467b0870bc95275b5949279bb463784d.jpg and set up a test rig for the bumper assemblies with the Leonardo board, a Mosfet driver and the oled display, http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/06/0b9b22c8f41c2160fb631bcd52730e2c.jpg so I'm not trying to hold half a dozen bits while testing.

I just touched it and look what happened.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/19/09cecace5bc03b775d3879f59f9e7336.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/19/d811dad8eb5e7f47679ed72bee2df40a.jpgI'm sure this had nothing to do with it.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/19/b9ed7a22ed4a63d235d3a26f6dd139b7.jpg[emoji6]

This was a spare cabinet that I've used almost all of the other parts off on various projects including this one. It was in poor condition, especially on the back. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/19/ca3f16118075a553b25e0ede76762900.jpgI'll be making a new front, back and base for it so it'll fit the modified spare Shark playfield I'm using.

Couldn't you use an Arduino Uno to do the same thing, or doesn't it have enough omffff ?

It all comes down to how many I/O lines it has. I'll need more for the main boards that's why I chose the Mega and the Leonardo fits the bill for the individual assemblies.

Ah I see ! I just thought seeing it was for the pop bumper that you would only be using a few inputs, see one should never "assume " ! Do you want a copy of my messages code for the 8X8 LED Matrix ? It works fine with single modules that are then daisy chained. I'm trying to get it to work with a nice 4 display module that I just got off ebay, but it runs the code I have 90 degrees out in orientation :o

Keep up the good work

Yeah I'd like a copy of your code please. I'll pm you my email address.

Making an Orbit1 cabinet into a widebody Hankin to take the Shark playfield I'm using in this project. I cut new ends today and I'll cut the base tomorrow and try and get it assembled. It's going to need a lot of putty around the corners. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/03/16/75ba31addcecedff427249498158db4a.jpg

The coin door and credit button holes were cut out this morning and the bottom edge has been routed to take the base. It's then been glued and strapped together while it dries.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/03/17/205eb6cf105039d265dae226c58385f3.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/03/17/ae2edc92f2a29e5a23020bdd30375605.jpg I put the playfield in to keep it square.

Base and corners nailed and glued. Just some builder's bog to go. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/03/17/9866ed12f01de3a5dc92bc63e9b65738.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/03/17/aa420cb42eb5bf8778d82076bacf51b6.jpg
