kress
Hi all, It's time to start putting up some videos and pictures of the recent Tumbleweed build. This will include all the timeline photos of the playfield from a sheet of ply to where it stands today. Built between January and September 2013 this machine was built without a motor board or processor. All functions are performed using electronic 0 > 9 units run by 4017 chips and 555 timers. The idea of this was to make a machine with cheap garden variety parts easily available to anyone.Details on the boards and circuits used to follow.... Jollystunts video using a chest mounted camera ( cheers mate ) For now though a general info video :) Timeline Photos of the playfield incarnations One of a couple... of steppers , this one counts latched circuits enables next ball and latches ready to fire Sorry there aren't more pretty lights (everything looks better on the other side of the playfield ). For those who are so inclined Here's a WTF ? photo ( thanks to Homepin ) I would never have been game to have taken this photo for the world to see ! It's out there in the ether now ... Mr Pinbologist
I only managed to get a couple of games on this machine at pinfest so i didnt get much of a chance to fully understand what i was doing on it! Still i thought it was a VERY cool game.. until playing this i never realised anyone else was building their own games from scratch. I had one that i built about 16 years ago that i called 'Vortex' that was built from parts from several games, made my own boards to run it. Basically was the same as what has been done on Tumbleweed (using 555 timers and CMOS ICs). Having seen and played this game, and now learning how it came together makes me sorry now that i had to part out mine :cry

Not really suited to the board jockey world we live in.Did you still have any photos of the build ..?

Not really suited to the board jockey world we live in.Did you still have any photos of the build ..? I still have pics of the finished product, but none of the actual building of it. When i built mine the internet didn't exist, and i wasn't thinking that anyone else years later would even be remotely interested of what i was up to so the progress wasn't documented. A handful of pics and the playfield hanging in my house are the only remaining things to say that i built it. Everything else was thrown out that couldn't be reused.. the cabinet was used for my Gtb Pinball Pool restore (i had used a system 1 cab). As far as selling a home brew pin, my viewpoint was that mine was something i could NEVER have sold, as no one else would have a clue how to fix it if the electronics died. My guess is that if something happened to me and someone else got it, it would've ended up at the tip anyway soon as anything went wrong with it. kress
A Little work done on this machine of late New shooter solenoid and end of stroke switch (heaps more power and doesn't get hot any more ) New " code " :069: for Encore mode completed , still have to install it ( featuring the song ' Mountain ' A seven minute 3 ball multiball ) I dont know why I've never got to the end of this machine. Highest score to date There also seems to be some interest in this Pinnie going to the Sydney Expo , could be cool
