What retro stuff did you add to your stash this week?

Americans still don't believe you when you tell them the UK/Australian version of the movie added a "And Optimus Prime will return" voiceover at the end of the film.

And there was 2 versions where spike swore as moonbase one was eaten by Unicron

Here's something I recently got which I have never seen before. An xbox 360 that hasn't been updated and is still running the original blades dash but what really makes this unique is that this is a jasper revision! The later nxe dash was released the same month the jasper motherboards came out. I doubt many of these running blades would have existed further more the ones that managed to not get updated to later dash versions.

The blades dash ruled! Such a simple, idiot proof display system with everything easy to locate.

The later nxe dash was well and truly out by the time i got a 360 so I kind of missed out but for me even without the nostalgia factor i can see the appeal of this old elusive dash. The later 360 dashes seem to be more clunky to use and cluttered with adds etc.

Went to my parents house to dig out my old Sega stuff. Lucky as a kid I didn't like throwing boxes away, still have my multimega with all packaging and my old gamegear with boxes. Haven't tried turning anything on yet and need a clean from the dust but all worked last time i tried many years ago. As an added bonus found a donkey kong jr game and watch as well. Good day out.

I've been busy!

Scored these SNES carts the other night for what could be described as "2005 pricing":

Then came across this Dick Smith VZ200 for what was definitely not 2005 pricing, but cheap enough to justify grabbing it (even if it's got what looks to be RAM issues):

And finally my Atari Jaguar Gamedrive rocked up. Doubt 2005 even had any real idea what a flash cart was, let alone the insanity of making one for the Jag.. but here we are!

Must admit I did get lucky as this little bugger cost me nothing. Definitely not an A grade example!!! I do some contract work for a fella near home and his office / sales girl had it sitting around. As a thankyou she has a leaking shower tap that I have offered to fix....

I picked up a C64 this weekend, finally! Most folks want way more than I want to spend, but I found one in cosmetically reasonable condition for $50 on FB, listed only minutes before (complete fluke, I'm almost never on FB), shot the seller a message and they actually agreed to hold it for me. Apparently a lot of salty folks messaged after me saying how much it was worth, offering more money, etc, but the seller didn't care which was real nice. When I got there it wasn't actually that great of a deal as the pictures led on, most of it is *extremely* water damaged and I'd be surprised if any of the software's any good at all. Lots of game boxes (all water damaged naturally) but no disks. No 1541/1571, despite the manuals for same. Most of the cassettes are present but they reek of mold.

After taking apart and inspecting the machine, giving it a clean up (bathed in metho, used a paintbrush to shift the crud, then let it dry), and checking the PSU voltage, it does boot but the spacebar doesn't work. Haven't done any more with it because I don't really trust the stock PSUs. But the machine's obviously been out in the weather too, it's extremely rusted, and the top side of the board (including all the ports) are all very, very pitted. But on the outside, apart from a couple knocks and some minor yellowing, it looks great so I'm happy... just the C64 alone is worth it.

Found this morning while out of town for a garage sale that was a flop

backtracked home via a suburb that has kerbside on

Wasnt optimistic due to recent weather but open up and hair dryer and it came to life. No charger but found a suitable one in my "one day might need this power supply" box.

64 meg ram and 15 gig hdd. Once again struck by the horror of windows me lol

So I swapped an Amiga 500 with gotek... for 2 more Amiga 500 and a Commodore 1081 monitor. I don't think I'm doing this "declutter" thing right.

Tangentially related, also picked up a whole bunch of the new Magic: The Gathering set which is based around The Forgotten Realms, including this snazzy little throwback:

I just couldn't resist.....

Probably the best Starscream I've seen hands down without the killer price of the Takara Masterpiece series.

The articulation on these things is out of this world...far cry from the old Transformer toys that barely resembled what we saw on the cartoon.

I think I'll get Megatron next.
