Xbox One Mod chip

Recommended Posts

MangledLeg , Ive modded mine with SID 5 installer and XBMC which included a way to switch a virtual eeprom to NTSC or PAL so you can play any game youve got .

Just checked and it was under Programs/Apps/Enigmah Videomode Switchdisc .

Softmods pretty foolproof these days , easiest system to mod I would say . Once your done get the thing connected to your lan and backup the C and E drives . Use HDD Maker and upgrade the hard drive , you can transfer your games via ftp if the dvd drive is suspect and than play without it .

Thanks for the info lilcuda.

I've bean reading up, and have decided that I'm going to track down an Xbox when I've got the time and that little bit of spare cash to grab one, I want to get an Xbox and set it up so I can swap out the stock HDD for a 200gb HDD (I have a couple spare), load games onto the HDD and play them off that, and optionally copy gamesaves onto the HDD if I'm too lazy to unlock stuff (e.g. DoA3 or DoA:U). All I need is a dashboard that doesn't look like a POS, multi-region games and a way to rip games using the Xbox, or via the PC and then transferring stuff across via FTP.

In light of that, any chance you could help out confirming some research I've done? Here's my plan of attack:

- Create a USB memory device: (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/578329)

Use my existing Datatraveller USB stick and grab a cheap cable off eBay to connect USB device to Xbox. Run the details from that tute to set it up for use on the Xbox. Done. Turn on the console and copy across the files for SID 5 and the gamesaves to the Xbox.

- Grab a copy of one of the games

Load the game, load the save file -- the saves are included in the pack at the above link, as well as with SID 5.

- Install softmod (http://www.aideluxe.com/index.php?title=Softmod_Installer_Deluxe)

Install SID 5, install dual boot with hacked dash/ms dash option to allow booting back to original MS dash if I want.

- Install components from AID (http://www.aideluxe.com/index.php?title=Auto-Installer_Deluxe)

Add essentials - region-free DVD, BIOS flasher, Phoenix BIOS loader, Chimp, basically everything needed to run any game off the Xbox HDD, and copy ISOs to the HDD (via the XBox dash?) and patch to enable LBA48. Add extra skins or dash to make something that looks nice and clean.

- Clone HDD with Chimp (http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-260.html)

Run Chimp to clone the internal HDD to a spare 200gb HDD on the fly. Reset, remove HDDs, reboot with the fresh one.

- Copy games to the HDD

Use the dash or PC + FTP to transfer files across; would prefer the former for originals, but will FTP others. Depends if the DVD drive is stuffed :P

The only other question I have is what dash do people recommend? UnleashX and EvolutionX seem to be popular, not sure which to use though.

can't go past xbmc as your dash

nothing else is as polished and professional looking

+1 on this one.

Pretty easy to setup and there are disks that do all the work for you.

If you are not wanting to watch HD content XBMC is a great media player. Plays everything!

Hi MangledLeg , one of the hardest things I found was getting a usb drive that was compatible with the xbox . That tutorial is the same I used to do mine and works a treat .

Download the latest SID installer and copy the gamesave plus usb install ( around 90mb ) to the usb drive and the whole thing is a piece of cake. Some people like to install UnleashX and than XBMC but it requires renaming files to point to the xbmc dash and the SID installer is a all in one set and forget install that is a good place to start with . It does install some languages you may not need but really isnt anything to worry about .

I used Splinter Cell , make sure you dont use the "classics" version .

Single boot is all you really need , you can play original and backed up games .Without XBOX Live there is no need for the original dash anymore .

The AID disc is really something to be careful with especially bios flashing , mostly use this to setup an install disc with all your emulators ready to go instead of ftp later . But really not needed straight up .

Never have used clone so cant give any tips . Ive used xboxhdm to build drives after installing the softmod and retrieving the eeprom , when I mod I always set up the ftp (flashfxp) backup C and E ,put those folders into the corresponding folders of xboxhdm and make yourself a cd to build your new drive .

If you copy games to the hard drive they will have to be in folder format and not iso so use craxtion or qwix to extract the files and ftp them across .

XBMC is the way to go as far as dash is concerned :) .

I agree that xbox's make a great media player if you are not into HD. I have 3 (80Gb, 320gb and a stock HDD softmodded one) and have loved them until recently when I purchased an AsRock Ion for HD content (still run XBMC on it!)

As for modding I used the open xbox and unplug stuff while its running and connect to a computer method and didnt have any problems, also dont need any original games or anything else for this method (except a computer with disk drive I think)

Good luck with it and these days if you stuff it up its no big deal as they are pretty cheap to replace (my last one which I was using the most cost me $15 from cash converters)

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Following the advice you've all given me, I'll disregard AID and just use the latest SID, then add XBMC as the dash. Will consider using the program to build an Xbox HDD via a PC, but will see how adventurous I get. What did intrigue me was this from sutts:

Can you point to a good tute for this method? Sounds like it could be fun :)

Nah, and I enjoy a challenge, so I'm looking forward to a DIY :) Benji dropped by over the weekend to pickup the C64 and GH stuff I was selling and was saying he fired it interstate to an AA member (possibly lilcuda?), and said it made the process nice and simple. I just figured it'd be fun to give it a go myself, I like messing around with consoles.

@lilcuda: Will look it up, might be interesting :)

Where did you pick up your asrock from? With the stronger aussie $ I was looking at buying one. Tho, the prices seem to stay around the same since it came out

Mine was $400 off ebay with a HDD (500 gig i recon from memory) and 4 gig of Ram. I recon you could get a similar set up for around $500 new (slightly smaller HDD and RAM) Oh and I am talking 330-HT as I recon you need a remote.

Brother-in-law is actually thinking of getting himself another one for his bedroom as the XBOX just isnt cutting it now he has the AsRock and has everything in HD.

yeah that looks pretty cool...mine will do for now but might have to look at getting one of the 3D capable ones later when I have a tv that is 3D capable.

also you might find that the prices on the 330HT's come down when the new model is released??...probably not but we can live in hope.
