Dedrok
Pretty much am finished on the custom old pokie to arcade conversion. My mate did most of the early work, IE: Stripping the unwanted bits out and wiring up the power supply, plus doing all the decals. I just had to finish off wiring in the decent joysticks. Instead of just the one. I wired in a 2nd joystick so the are both wired the same. Got a good 4way to Replace the basic one, to play games that need it , especially Pac-Man. Then added a 2nd 8way to the other side. Once I worked out the most comfortable spacing with the mounting plate, I went ahead and cut it out, drilled countersunk holes for the bolts and started to make them fit. Once everything was worked out and fitted, then had to remeasure and mark out the Perspex panel cover to suit the layout. Then cut / shape it to suit and drill out the holes, being careful not to crack or split the Perspex. Used a 22mm wood bit and did halfway from each side. Worked out with no dramas. Then opened up the holes with a special tool to make them 23mm - 24mm for the switch buttons.
Dedrok
Once it was all shaped, the joysticks and buttons were fitted back in. Bit of a tight fit in a couple of spots but not too bad. Left to do is attach the Perspex , still deciding whether to place a few symmetrical chrome security bolts or use hidden attachments. Also some better generic buttons and 1 2 player starts, and some info decals for Starts, 4 way set, 8 way set all with the arrows, Fire/shoot, Bomb/Escape and whatever a 3rd button is Currently only running a 60 in 1, but that may change And that’s pretty much it for now 2
redferatu
What is the ratio on that? With launchers you can load marquees at the top and instructions at the bottom, then run the game in the original ration. Might be worth looking in to as that looks a bit stretched and too be honest too big from so close. Otherwise it's a really interesting conversion.
Dedrok
Yeah. That was my concern at first but I got used to it. I might look into it down the track. I was also thinking I may add Mame and some PinMame. The ratio looks perfect for a playfield size.

Autosteve
Is it heavy like pokeys normally are? You've done well not to change it to much I think. It still looks like a pokey but lives another life. I like it.

Gemini2544
You could also include a MP3 Jukebox to it, giving it two personalities.

Still going through naming corrections of around 1650 albums.

Yep video jukes are cool and I like Mp3 audio with a good visualization program as long as it has randomize. To much dramas organizing each and every song I want to hear. I think you are taking about displaying the game in 4:3 but using the remainder of the wide screen for game instructions and title header?. There’s these small monitors but it’s more a cocktail size. This one is to fix another cab that the monitor died in.

I think I’d just go basic like this one. 1
redferatu Posted yesterday at 02:10 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:10 AM Yeah, that's cool. I think you can customise it in whatever way you want. IMO I like the marquee and instructions, but not into the fake cab look.
