Hi all

I have a US Vectrex model that powers on fine (with a step down converter) but the vectors don't display correctly on the screen and are all over the place.  I have the capacitor replacement kit that was recommended on a FB user group, however, I am having some issues with removing old caps with some of the PCB traces starting to lift and I'm reluctant to proceed and do this myself in fear of doing more damage.

I am also not 100% sure if I discharged the CRT correctly, and I don't want to find out the hard way and another reason why I'm reluctant to keep on fiddling with it.

If anyone could recommend someone that might repair these units in Australia it would be greatly appreciated.

I'll introduce myself here too - have worked on three Vectrex consoles now, all exceptionally difficult repairs.  Meaning I've learned the hard way - never got lucky with electrolytic capacitor replacement haha.

All three customers have posted them to me and spent approximately $500 including return postage on the repairs.  A full recap is suggested related to age (typically 41 years) and I've been buying up all the ICs for 'stock'.  I use a digital storage scope to help troubleshoot logic issues quickly.  The power supplies are exceptionally good quality e.g 1% tolerance resistors, traditional linear design with lots of RFI consideration baked in and above necessary heat sinking.  They are let down but bizarrely cheap construction from factory and simply age related changes.  All three customers have in part paid twice - I've had to unfu*k other 'backyard' level repair attempts.  It's much easier for me to fix something when it's stock by the way.
