Trimming an acrylic bezel

Got an acrylic bezel made up for my restored lowboy, but it's ever so slightly wide.
Can you hand plane the side?
I don't have a lot of power tools etc so wondering if I can easily shave off a few mms using a sharp hand/bench plane.

I would do it with a sanding block and 80, 120 grit myself, have tried the hand plane on plastic before and it caught and cracked the plastic I was trying to trim.

Acrylic is easy to chip, crack and over heat. I would guess that if you sandwiched it in between wood and shaved the lot you would be okay, but considering the angle I wouldn't be confident. I have had success with a router at low speed going very slow as to nibble and jigsaw with a metal high tooth saw going slow. Sanding it anyway seems to be fine as long as you don't overheat it. Best to ask for quote as I got mine done a few years back.
