Iron Maiden Premium sarcophagus Continually operating

Recommended Posts

Just recently my Iron Maiden Premium sarcophagus would not stop in a position.

It would continue to move during the game. In Switch test none of the switches that are actuated by the moving sarcophagus would register, so obviously the common wire connection was broken. I pulled the plug connecting the switches to the wiring harness and reconnected it and the switches started to work again. Bad plug? Ran the switch test and Motor tests a few time and no failures so lowered the play-field back into position. Straight away the sarcophagus started to move again. Lifted the play-field and move sarcophagus to position where it operated switch 65.

while in switch test started to move wiring harness and you could hear the sound made as switch activation is detected. So wiring harness issue? Started cutting cable ties to see if there was an obvious crushed wire or signs of a break. It seemed the slightness tap on the wiring loom along a fair amount of its length would produce the issue. Consulted the operation manual and found switches from sarcophagus terminated on CN9 on play-field node board. Carefully just tapping on CN9 connector would reproduce the issue. Removing and re-seating the connector, and then no amount of wiring harness manipulation or CN9 knocking would cause the issue to return. Lowered the play-field and sarcophagus worked fine.

Just though this might help someone else.

Actually!!

This started again.

Got to the CN9 connector again and decided to remove the pins for a look.

One of the trifurcon connectors had partially broken so it was not making proper contact.

Repined all the connectors on the plug and return to use. Problem gone now.
