Machines in your collection

  1. Gottlieb's Abra Ca Dabra was the third pinball machine and second wedgehead that I purchased. I had never played Abra before purchasing the machine in 2016, however I was fully aware of this being a great player. This is where the addiction of playing pinball really kicked in with me and Abra Ca Dabra. Today it is my favourite wedgehead in my collection and I more than enjoy shooting the drop targets and centre target for "special". With its mysterious magic and sorcery theme and unique layout, Abra Ca Dabra is one of the most beloved games released by Gottlieb in the mid-1970s. The game features a moving lit drop target that will score an indicated bonus value, a value which is increased by completing the rollover sequence or hitting the centre target after collecting all the drop targets. Knowing that I would never let this great game leave my herd, it was time to start a restoration to make this better than the purchase condition. The restoration was enhanced with repairs to the cabinet and re stencilling using Pinball pimp stencils, PLUS the inclusion of many PBR parts such as coin door etc, PLUS a Ron Webb Repro Backglass added. The original playfield on the game is still more than really nice shape, however with Wade Krause manufacturing the repro Pf's it was time to purchase one and in time have it to improve the overall game as part of the restoration. After waiting for approx 6 months for the pf to land in Australia and allow time for the pf to breathe and condition before considering any extra work. I had just received a "High End" restored playfield (Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - EM) back from Hot Rodded Pins (HRP), my decision to enhanced the pf at this time instead of installing into the game was soon realised. I commissioned Tim Reid of "Hot Rodded Pins" to then clean, prepare as necessary & thoroughly check the pf and have it 100% ready to apply a clear coat. This extra work was not to go against the great work that Wade performs, nor make an EM with a real glassy pf that looks way out of place, I that I desired was just a slight enhancement to my investment. HRP was straight to work knowing the extent with the scope of works required to refinish (including clear coating) the reproduction playfield, having a great base to start with was more than ideal for HUO, as per the GTB Jumping Jack playfield that was being completed at the same time. With several major restorations currently in place, the new playfield will be swapped over and installed in 2023 by the GoatShed. On the topside of the PF all brand new parts from PBR will be included, underneath all mechanisms will be fully restored/rebuilt new lamp sockets installed etc etc etc . The cabinet and motorboard is completed and the Ron Webb BG awaits for the completion. I will really look forward to enjoying my investment. 2. Gottlieb's Jumping Jack was the first pinball that I ever purchased. I still find this game addictive and more than interesting to play today, just maybe because of the pop bumper placement ? and I love many drop targets. At one stage I owned 2 x GTB King PIns (wedgehead) even with the different but very similar layout and different rules however my preference is Jumping Jack. Jumping Jack was a mild restoration completed by the Goat Shed back in 2016. The restoration was enhanced with chroming of many parts instead of painting with hammertone, PLUS a Shay Arcade Repro Backglass added later. The machine made its pinfest debut that year and also returned in 2017 being most popular to play by all. The original playfield on the game is still more than really nice shape, however with Wade Krause manufacturing the repro Pf's it was time to purchase one and in time have it to improve the overall game. After waiting for approx 6 months for the pf to land in Australia and allow time for the pf to breathe and condition before considering any extra work. I am sure that you will notice the "before" and "after" pictures that are attached and that you possibly agree that the "enhancement" is more than tasteful and suitable to this style of machine with the new pf. With several major restorations currently in place, the new playfield is hoping to be installed in 2023 by the GoatShed. NEXT: GTB - Abra Ca Dabra - HRP enhancement
