Nba jam te pcb

Jerry

Question

Hi guys, have a nba jam board and a nba jam te board.

The te board cones up with ram error ua13 and ua14.

However, the game loads but u cant play it as it reverts to coin play and the mech is broken.

The standard board is working fine.

Should I try and swap the 2 ram from the standard board onto the te board?

Or something else?

Thanks

I'm not sure how to explain it in arcade lingo, but here's a pichttps://www.aussiearcade.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=150357

Honestly mate unless you have the equipment to swap the rams over yourself I suggest sending the board to @Jomac

It's worth fixing for sure!

If you get/have an IC puller I'd consider giving it a go. There were kits sent to arcade operators to switch these over from NBA Jam to NBA Jam TE so with a bit of care it should be doable. Just don't bend any pins pulling them out or putting them back in.

That is correct. That is how you upgraded the old boards. There was also a set of chips that didn't allow for the players to have big heads when it become non PC to have this feature even though the operator could simply change the settings to use normal head sizes with the normal chip set.

You can't swap the RAM chips with IC pullers, they are surface mount chips, pullers only work if the chips are socketed.

Pulling on those will rip dozens of tracks and pads off the board and convert the board to scrap.

I think we're talking about different things.

Yes, you won't pull the UA13 and UA14 off the board, they're RAM chips.

But you can get a working NBA Jam TE by moving your NBA Jam TE ROM chips (UG/UJ) to your working NBA Jam board. (You also need to move the PLCC chip in the brown socket across too)

This is an IC puller:
