What retro stuff did you add to your stash this week?

Recommended Posts

The finds are getting closer to home. [emoji16]

There's a house clearout about 1km from home and they had these.

The Sharp MZ-700 let out the smoke genie but I'm sure I can fix it.[emoji6] I have no idea why I bought the 8" drives [emoji16], but they looked cool. The tv will look great with the Dick Smith Wizzard I got yesterday and the 733 mhz Celeron pc will be great for retro gaming I hope, even though two of the cd/dvd drives don't open. I love the monitor stand with inbuilt lcd clock too.

I even got two of those fuzzy blacklight posters of pirate ships and the blacklight tube.[emoji38]

It's a disease.890ff21095b86fcb15fb575b8e51f13c.jpg6b38590850f458ab8b64193eae55f7c8.jpg1c93bcdb88ec0ec9efbd0bc88ab77944.jpgc484bfe29f26ffe70a4044bf91a7d28d.jpg1863b51126fe38c22a46f515ad70bfa0.jpge78e12c98b81d8f164869a514538cba6.jpga7c13836d6f5ad4b9eb57adaf95ff905.jpgac941e73449ae8d74916f48ab8c8181d.jpg63c88ac7e9270dcc57dc210ecaf34430.jpge4d424c827fcd8945ea17e87afbc9283.jpgf5b025eb627b9b55cdee582f89830144.jpg9dcf73769e468a49a3982e4eac955b5a.jpga706f00e9cfaf512d0aa6b9f313235c5.jpg

I bought 2 Wyse terminals recently that don’t quite work and have no keyboards. A pc with a serial port and a terminal program would be a good start. Finding a CP/M or MP/M boot disk will be the bigger challenge

Absolutely! Would be very interested to see the insides. Most likely an S100 bus based system.
They're pretty basic. Just one board. I picked up two computers and 4 spare boards, one is different to the rest.

I have a Kaypro II that comes with a program that can create or copy most 5 1/4" CP/M disk formats of the day. Not sure if I'd be able to connect one of those 8" disk drives to the Kaypro and create a boot disk if you find some blanks.

Few little goodies today: cheap SMS2 console, Amstrad CPC Outrun that only had the soundtrack tape, a Mac Classic version of Sim City, and a db15 splitter cable (guessing for a pc?).

Loving that Sim City. Software for compact Macs seems to be pretty hard to find.

Apparently the 8" drives are a complete Z80 computer system. I'll have fun getting these up and running.

Anyone got an old crt rs232 terminal for a desperate hacker?

Cheers Trev.

The first one cleaned up ok. I found a 5mb hard drive that I'm hoping goes with them.a85af95ef67ce9bbfe125865a9284711.jpgc7e049a00a4c61808c9e51a390ea866c.jpg84387df633b4fc4e7b71f30864bac626.jpg

Scrubbed up nicely! Was the hard disk in the same lot or did you find it elsewhere?

In the same lot and it has a 50 pin connector the same as the I/O header in the computer. I've got pinouts so I'll trace the data lines and see if they match up.

I know it's a long shot that it'll still work but I'm hopeful.

I picked up another four computer units the same yesterday.[emoji16]

Well it looks like the hdd will plug straight into the SCSI port on the computer.

I guess the next step will be to wire up a cable and setup terminal software on my old pc with the serial port.

But that's another day and I'll start a new thread on it when I get around to booting it up.

Not perfect but I think it looks a whole lot better now. I printed the artwork on foil laser printer labels and trimmed it with an exacto knife. (Very carefully[emoji6])f437d36507b0f0e394e2915bc6b7cd4e.jpg2307f3d2500dc71732405f2c52276678.jpg
