Space Invaders Taito upright

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am restoring a Taito Japanese Space Invaders cab that I have been sitting on for 25 years.

I am wondering if the original Taito came with some sort of knob on the joystick. It has no screw thread so does not take a screw on knob.

Also what colour should the fire, player one,two buttons be?

Also the perspex has a bulge in it. I may try putting on a heavy weight on it to flatten a little.

Agreed. I played many with the "knobless" joystick but as defender said never that short.

Agreed, the ones I have played have had no knob and just the joystick. However, it is longer than that one. Didn't some Japanese cabs have no joystick at all and instead had two buttons for left and right? Paging @Kaizen

Also, short and knobless made me laugh.

From what I understand, only the Australian delivered machines had 'knobless joysticks'.

The Japanese cabs had either the two buttons or the joystick with a white knob.

I've also noticed that most of the cabs in the UK have joysticks with a white knob.

The fire button was white and start buttons were red.
