Lambo
2019 BRISBANE MASTERS - 15TH-18TH AUGUST Once again, @Jimmi Nails and I are proud and extremely excited to present the 2019 Brisbane Masters, to be held on 15th-18th August. This year's event will be held at the Brisbane Showgrounds, in conjunction with the annual Royal Brisbane Show. Our venue is at least twice the size of the 2018 event at Rydges Fortitude Valley. The 2019 edition will be a part of a massive Pinball & Arcade carnival to be held around the South East QLD corner, with numerous IFPA registered and non-IFPA events being held over 10 straight days. Comps will be held at the showgrounds, Netherworld, Pincadia and Timezone Coolangatta (TBC), starting Friday 9th August, culminating in the 5th Annual Brisbane Masters final on August 18th. So save the date(s)! And be prepared... Jimmy and I have already got our beds and drips booked at the hospital for the Monday after. You won't want to miss the 2019 Brisbane Masters! Likely pinball tournament schedule (subject to change): Friday 9th August: 10am - Best Game Qualifying & Finals (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds Saturday 10th August: 10am - Classics Matchplay (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds 7pm - Classic Flip Frenzy (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds Sunday 11th August: 10am - 10-Strike Fair Strikes tournament (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds 7pm - Split Flipper social comp @ Brisbane Showgrounds Monday 12th August: 10am - Demos, Master classes, Junior Comps @ Brisbane Showgrounds 6.30pm - Mini Matchplay (IFPA) @ Pincadia, Wooloongabba Tuesday 13th August: 10am - Demos, Master classes, Junior Comps @ Brisbane Showgrounds 4pm - Brisbane Pinball Club (Herb tournament) (IFPA) @ Netherworld, Fortitude Valley Wednesday 14th August: 10am - Demos, Master classes, Junior Comps @ Brisbane Showgrounds 6pm - Coolangatta Pinball Club (Herb tournament) (IFPA) @ Timezone Coolangatta Thursday 15th August: 10am-6pm - Brisbane Masters Warm Up Herb Tournament Qualifying (Day 1) (IFPA) - Brisbane Showgrounds 6.30pm - 3-Strikes Group Elimination Tourmament (IFPA) - Brisbane Showgrounds Friday 16th August: 10am-6pm - Brisbane Masters Warm Up Herb Tournament Qualifying (Day 2) (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds 7pm - Warm Up Herb Tournament Finals (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds Saturday 17th August: 10am - Brisbane Masters presented by AMD (7 Rounds Qualifying) (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds 8pm - Stall Ball Cup social event @ Brisbane Showgrounds Sunday 18th August: 10am - Brisbane Masters presented by AMD Finals @ Brisbane Showgrounds 6.30pm - Flip Frenzy Wind down (IFPA) @ Brisbane Showgrounds Other events may also appear in the calendar around the area too. onetaste
Boom! This could shape up to be one of the biggest series of pinball tournaments held anywhere on earth!
namastepat
Wow, that sounds huge. How in the hell did you manage to get the event at RNA while the Ekka is on? That's a massive coup for pinball. Will the event be in an accessible public space that people can walk in and see all the pinballs and all the people playing? I can't think of a better way to raise the profile of pinball. Well done. Jimmy Nails
Yep will be accessible to the public with large periods of time through the week in which the space will be set on pay per play for the public. Lot's of news coming for this event but some quick points: - we will be adding a classic arcade event to the space and possibly incorporating Australian Kong Off 3 in to the first weekend - entry fee in to any pinball or arcade event will include free entry to EKKA - competitors will also be offered a discount code so friends and family will have discounted entry in to EKKA - likely aim to have most comps wrapping up each day between 5-8pm so people can enjoy the showgrounds with friends and family - potential for 50+ pinballs and 20+ arcades in the space Over 400,000 people visited EKKA this year so this is going to provide an insane amount of exposure to our amazing competitive pinball and arcade scene in Oz. For those considering visiting from overseas, you couldn't experience anything more OZ then the EKKA Royal Show. Lambo and I are going to need plenty of help and plenty of machines so any assistance offered will be greatly appreciated. LOTS more news to come :)
DAG
Hey boys, sounds great... Don't want to put a downer on this however I only bring up the below points as a matter of COMMON SENSE ------ What ever that was.... Ensure the venue is water tight? Some pavilions leak in heavy rain...Or at least they used to How level are the floors? Some have a very large rise and fall in a short area.....Or a least they used to Have you considered how to keep the general public out of the way of the playing competitors so there are no disappointed players...... The floor & roof are probably old issues however the royal railway modellers have used this venue for over 35 years and there was a few tears shed by some very grown men when the heavens opened up one year and the floor levels made for lots of extra set up work.... On another note....I CAN'T WAIT.....I haven't been to the EKKA since I was kicked out of the Cattlemens Bar....A long story from a very long time ago... Lambo
Proposed schedule has been posted in first post of this thread (subject to change). Events are likely to include Classics, Strikes, Herb Qualifying, Matchplay and others. There is also the possibility of other events being put together throughout the region. This will be big! nich2pat
- likely aim to have most comps wrapping up each day between 5-8pm so people can enjoy the showgrounds with friends and family This sounds like a great plan. Every time Ive been up to Brisbane I have spent the whole time inside a venue without being able to check out what else is around.

We will be asking this thread to be closed/locked soon and will start a new thread with all details for all comps, ticketing and pricing info. The Brisbane Masters Main Event on the final weekend will be an event where all competitors must pre-register, as per previous years, along with both Flip Frenzies on the calendar.
