jeffez
Hi guys, I'm after at least the top part of a dreamcast shell. Not terribly fussed on condition and yellowing, as long as there's no major damage. Cheers
mckie1
We have one on a shelf you can have. Please shoot through postage details and I will try and disassemble soon [emoji23] We only have it for the joystick ports for an arcade project - don’t judge [emoji23] Cheers, Dave

Sounds great. Let me know how much. I'm hardly one to judge, the nerdier the better. I'm resurrecting an abandoned case mod project. Will PM shortly :)

jeffez
Dave, Is the power supply available? Cheers Ray Sent from my iPhone using Aussie Arcade Just a heads up incase you haven't got it yet. This is a japanese unit so it may not be a 220V board unless it was already swapped at some point. mckie1
Correct :) I put a note on the psu showing 100 volt just in case ;)
Frank_fjs
You can convert a Japanese PSU to 240V with a simple swap of a couple of resistors and capacitors.

xodaraP
I'll post the link up when I get home and I can find it, depending which board revision you have its 2 resistors and a cap, or on the later revision just a cap. If you're running a GDEMU or USB-GDROM it is also recommended to disable the +12 as well (it's only required by the GD-ROM drive) Did I see somewhere that someone has a spare VGA box? Frank_fjs
Here's the link for the power mod: https://dragoncity17.wordpress.com/2016/10/25/dreamcast-convertir-une-alim-110v-en-220v/
xodaraP
Dreamcast shell I'm happy to do this for you if you need as well. Make sure you order the correct sized caps too (I originally ordered Rubycon and they were too tall) - the correct cap to replace it with is a Nichicon (which is also the brand removed) For the 2 62k caps, one is a 1/4w through hole, the other is a 0805 metric SMD or you can use another one of the 1/4w through hole and just solder the resistor flat with the pins soldered to the SMD pads. We did have one but gave it away with the shell. We probably have another somewhere but might take some time to find in the pile of unused a/v gear :(
xodaraP
Dreamcast shell If the guy who got the VGA box doesn't want it, I'd be keen on it :P If you come across another one, let me know :)

Autosteve
Don't be shy boys. I have a many Jap Dreamcasts. Is 3 for $100 to much?. You would be getting them as is but out of the 3, 1 will definitely be working and you may be lucky and get 3 workers. I also have arcade interface boards, "Coin for time boards" that have arcade button/ joystick interfaces on them as well to suit Dreamcast Xbox etc. I'll do them for $50 a piece. PM if your interested.

jeffez
Awesome I wasn't aware they could be converted to 240 that easily/cheap. Is disabling the 12V with GDEMU still recommended for a stock 240 supply? What are the risks if it isn't?
xodaraP
Dreamcast shell Only if you're running a GDEMU or USB-GDROM The risk is the voltage regulator will overheat and die eventually and you'll get an electrical smell, some people don't notice anything, others do
