I don't plan to buy anything and everything that has Coke on it. I got offered plenty of Vending machines when I was looking for a Vendo 56, and some were nice ones that were cheaper, but I had my heart set on the same type I used as a kid.

Yeah some stuff just jumps out and yanks the old memory strings that’s for sure

I spent over 6 years looking for the right type of machine. I got offered a couple Vendo 63 that I would have been happy with, but no coin mechs and wanted more than I was willing to pay. I got offered patina++ machines that were more patina than machine. Missing parts, bad paint jobs (with house paint :realmad: ), fridge conversions etc etc etc. And not to mention people who thought their machines were worth thousands even in shocking condition because they were old. Thanks Pawn Stars/American Restoration :cry

If you ask nicely one of the NSW guys that live close may be able to pick it up for you so you can then arrange postage.

I appreciate the suggestion. I've tried doing that in the past, but things did not go well.

Do you have any pics :)

Would love to show my father in law. Hes fixed up a couple himself. One is a stand up fridge and one is a chest style vending

Ill get some pics to show you

I haven't restored it, just cleaned it up. Luckily everything still works.

Thats beautiful man! I'll show him when I see him next, he'll love it.

Here's a couple pics of his.

They arent 100% original restorations. Fresh coats of paint, decals, odds and ends etc. , they get used still.

The chest gets used for parties, and the stand up gets used 24x7 in the garage. Amazing how freaking cold they get.

I'm familiar with both types of fridges. Does the chest freezer still have the bottle slider rack in it, or has it been converted to a normal chest freezer? Does it still have the coin mech in it, because if he doesn't have the rack, would be interested in the coin mech if its still there.

EDIT: By the way, its rare that it still has the bottle catcher. One bottles with screw caps came out, a lot of machines had their bottle openers/catchers removed/welded over etc before they became collectible themselves.

I know theres definitely no coin mech.

I cant remember 100% about the rack. I think it may have had it because i remember him explaining how they used to work back in the day. Pretty sure it didnt function and he removed it from memory, because when its used at parties, we use the top and bottom parts for a lot of beer storage :D

If he still has the rack, there is a market for that in the States. Some would even pay the postage needed if they really need that part.

What is the exact model of the chest freezer listed on the ID plate?

It wouldn' t function without a coin mech. Why I was happy to find my machine had one.

Ill check out the model when i go there next. I dont think he'd sell leftover parts , but ill let him know theres a market in case he decides to. Cheers mate

Ask him if he has a friend in SA that also does similar work on old machines/fridges.

So what stuff are you looking for?

More vintage stuff than not. Not against newer stuff though. Right now I am looking at buying a 4.2 metre Coke bar runner from the 70s/80s. I could do something with that.

I'd love a lighted sign. Plenty of newer stuff out there, but again I'd like to try for something that belongs closer to the era of my machine.

Gotta buy slow though. Some of this stuff is so expensive, I could buy a second (& maybe a third) machine with the same money.

Yeah it gives me the shits too. Its like those guys selling the 4 vintage bottle coke box that came out last year and Coles still have for $10 for over $50. :realmad:

One area I'm genuinely surprised about is Coke yoyos. Over the past 6 months I have gotten to know the Coke yoyo market quite well, and i could buy whole vending machines for the actual sold price of some of them.

I could cry at the amount of Russel Coke/Fanta etc yoyos I literally demolished as a kid in the 80's. :cry
