mR_CaESaR
Is my chassis dead? Last night I tried turning my racing cab on and I can't get any picture... The boot sequence completes and I just get this grey screen. Definitely a glow on the neck The jpac is showing that it's in sync. Last week it was working perfectly fine. Any suggestions? 0 namastepat
Weird for a chassis to be dead but still show a raster. Usually when a chassis dies you will get nothing at all, as the chassis has blown a fuse and has no power. Or, you will get things like a horizontal or vertical collapse line. Yours is showing a perfect raster, which I've never seen when a chassis dies. Not saying it isn't dead, just something I haven't seen when a chassis dies. Jomac will know :)

0 dragonlee
Most likely it will a yoke deflection issue burnt out from the J-pac. I have seen before but do you have another remote board to suit the chassis and swap it over to eliminate if the deflection yoke isnt the issue. 0 buttersoft
What happens when you dial down the screen pot on the flyback?
0 mR_CaESaR
I'm not sure where or what that is... Is it safe to do so whilst turned on? Edit: after some googling, I turned it all the way down and it's still giving me the same result. I've tried putting a Pandora's box and changed it back to 15khz, same result.. 0 buttersoft
Yeah, okay. The grid voltage has failed high somewhere. If Dragonlee is offering, give him a call and see what he can do by remote. After that, there's always Jomac.
0 mR_CaESaR
I've pretty much come to the conclusion the chassis is dead. Had a spare 29 inch tube and MS9... And voila! We have picture! Need to change the rgb clipping pots to get a respectable picture. I just hope this fits in LAI racing cab Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
0 Rat
I would send the chassis to Jomac for repair and then you will still have a spare. Otherwise the world has one less working CRT which is always a sad outcome. Sent from my SM-G920I using Aussie Arcade mobile app
0 mR_CaESaR
Yeah I'm thinking about it. Otherwise, I'm thinking of getting rid of the combo.. I'll deal with that in the new year.. I need to figure out how to get to the unit onto the racing cab.. Lol Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

0 mR_CaESaR
Check this site, looks like the same issue your having: https://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?t=34650 I would like to think I'm pretty OK with a soldering iron, but I'd be too scared to touch the chassis. Joey said what I'm seeing is most likely a dead sync module. Also got referenced to this thread: https://www.aussiearcade.com/showthread.php/68425-Hold-issue-on-MS8-26SE-chassis/page2 I thought I was careful with booting and thinking the jpac protects the signal, but I guess going forward, I'm going to need to be more diligent with powering on and off the monitor when there's no signal. 0 mR_CaESaR
Pot tweaking and I've been able to get some decent colour. I've now got the same issue as I did with my Sega rally build when going from 15khz to 24khz. I'll reinstall crt emudriver Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
0 mR_CaESaR
Struggled to get picture at first... Kept on getting this.. Then HH24 pot and assumed its horizontal hold 24khz.. A little turn and voila! We finally have 24khz picture again! Need to adjust as it looks washed out. Next step is taking it off the floor and popping it into the cab! 0 mR_CaESaR
Struggling with mounting the 29" on this cab.. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
0 mR_CaESaR
Well the mounting of the 29" MS9 was a massive PITA for me since the frame didn't have the correct mounts as the other Sega Japanese racing cabs and I didn't really have to skills to fabricate it. Sent the chassis to Jomac and she's come back fixed!! I'm not sure who's happier, me or the kids :) :) Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
0 soyl
The blank screen with retrace lines means that the RGB amplifiers (the three transistors mounted on heat sinks on the neckboard) are not working and the most obvious reason is that they're not getting the supply voltage. This is typically 180-200VDC from the flyback (sometimes called video B+). This line usually has a fusible resistor that can go open. On a Nanao MS8-26 it's R570 near the flyback. 0 mR_CaESaR
That's for the info. But for some reason, I refuse to touch the chassis. I'm ok with an iron, but I'm just scared of the chassis. I'll leave it to the experts :) Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
