Arcadenewb Multi Shooter cabinet.........Hopefully

Recommended Posts

Figured it out. There's no calibration for the guns on lethal enforcer and the guns on the cabinet I have are the wrong guns for the game. I noticed the distance from the lens to the site is pretty far and I have to aim high to hit targets. Googled that and found the info on Klov.

About 30 mins down the freeway from me. I am busy this weekend, but I might be able to assist you in the future. Have a crack yourself first and see how you go. Adjusting the brightness pot is easy as and is the first thing you need to try. If the chassis is a Sharp Image dual res, there will also be a contrast adjustment on the remote board, contrast will also help you heaps in this situation.

You just need to find the best balance when the brightness and colours pop, but the blacks don't wash out and become too bright.

I tried messing around with the brightness and contrast. It didn't fix the problem. To much brightness and a blue edge appears on the right of the screen. I think the monitor might be on the way out. I'm noticing the monitor is taking longer and longer for the image to show up every time I turn the game on.

Sounds like the tube is old and tired. Can you snap a photo of the chassis? If it's a Sharp Image dual res, which I think it is, it can be paired with another TV tube with similar yoke readings. Jomac can even set it up for you to work with different tubes.

I assume the tube in the cab is a 26 inch tube, you can find that out by looking at the model number on the back of the tube.

Ok I've taken a few more pics of the inside of the PB2 cab. I'm not going to pretend I know what I'm looking at. It actually looked like the monitor is similar to a neon light. Looked like it had a transformer/ballast wired directly to the screen. I think I could lose a lot of hours on these things figuring out how they operate.

Yep, Sharp Image Dual res chassis, they are great chassis. The way the tube is duct taped around the yoke is a bit dodgy, someone may have replaced the yoke on the tube and done a shitty job. I also can't see any convergence rings on the tube neck, which is really weird. The entire yoke assembly looks weird, never seen one like it.

There is no tube model number in those photos, so I can't tell you what size the tube is. I suspect it will be 26 inch, but need to see a model number to confirm. It should be on a large sticker on the back of the tube.

Basically, your best course of action would be to replace the tube. To do this, you will need to find a donor tube that can match with the chassis. Almost any 90s TV tube that is the right size can be used, it's just finding one that is the right size which is difficult. 26 inch tubes are the hardest to find, as they were not common due to being superseded by 29 inch tubes, which are far more common.

OK. It's been a fair while since I've posted anything about my cabinet. How's everyone going?

I've always been into arcade games. I grew up, found a partner, bought a house, had kids and plans/dreams disappear into faded memories. hahahaha f#$k that. I convinced my partner that if I purchased a cabinet I would only get 1 and turn it into a multicade. It didn't happen. I got my hands on 4 games and wound up with 3 cabinets which I do not have the room for. Point Blank 2, Lethal Enforcers 1 & 2 and Virtua Cop 2. Now I'm trying to convince my partner to let me buy a racing cabinet. Believe it or not she actually liked it. There's obviously 1 rule that goes with it. I have to finish what I started. 2 cabinets have to go before I'm allowed to get a driving cabinet.

Little does she know, once I complete my multi shooter, I'm going to convert one of my cabinets to a 2 player joystick mame machine. I'll keep that quiet till I sort out the others. This is what brings me back. I need to kick start my project and I'm asking for any help/advise you guys can give. I figure I should let everyone know what components I have and what components I plan on purchasing as I have zero idea about any of it. I've obviously spent a lot of time reading and talking to people but that means nothing at the end of the day.

PARTS I HAVE

3 x cabinets - 2 of which are 100% complete and working JAMMA

3 x tubes and chasis

1 x CRT TV - only mentioned this because because of NAMASTEPAT's comment about finding a donor tube. It's been sitting in my shed for over 10 years. It worked when it went in. Not sure about now.

2 x sega light guns,

1 x complete wiring harness for Virtua Cop 2 with all bits and pieces to make it work.............hopefully

4 x recoil sfx light guns

PARTS I'M THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING

-I'm going to buy a 6 way JAMMA switcher - either RiddledTV https://riddledtv.com/arcade/jamma_switchers.html or this one off aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/503582612.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.6Bcgae

The aliexpress one is half the price of the RiddledTV version but Riddledtv looks to be superior in build quality. I found what seems to be a really good guide on setting up the one off aliexpress switcher here https://www.arcade-projects.com/forums/index.php?

thread/3401-6-in-1-jamma-switcher-mods-test-switch-remote-5v/

-sega to jamma adapter

-Jamma extension harnesses

Jomac told me to install a couple of mechanical switches to flip the horizontal and vertical orientation for different games. Seems simple enough as long as the switch mechs are out of reach of children. I wanted an automatic way of doing it as the games loaded but I'm not smart enough to figure it out.

-I also want to come up with a mini marquee with a L.E.D next to the game name so you can see which game is selected and which game is next in the order.

I think that's everything. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts and opinions. Once we've locked down the parts list I'll get it all on order and I'll document the build for anyone who's interested. Should be fun. Oh. I've attached a few pics of the tubes and chassis as I have no idea of what I'm looking at. I'm most likely going to get a new/rebuilt chassis for the project. The point blank one is cactus. The game only plays in full daylight now no matter what the contrast/brightness settings are at. The game was repaired by "The Guru" over in WA and it works perfectly in my LE cab so it must be the monitor.

Thanks everyone
