Look what turned up today just picked this up from the framers and I’m stoked with the results.

Original 1952 cardboard coke advertisement it’s amazing that any of these actually survived they were only made to be nailed up inside the shops for the advertising period then taken down and thrown away afterwards.

At this point, I think I am breaking one of the ten commandments, the one about not creating and worshiping false idols... :lol

And that is why I buy the stuff I do, the Point of Sale stuff and not the mass manufactured crap, even if some of it looks good. Yes, you can even buy reproductions that look just like the classic stuff and look visually awesome, but I like the history of an item, plus the effort in finding them. Also, they go nicely with my Coke machine.

You should take that photo and have it printed out professionally as a modern day coke pinup?

I'm sure the Mrs will be OK with it...... :lol

The original poster of that advertisement she is one hot looking girl so it’s a shame they f@ucked her up.

Yeah I found an original image. I've seen quite a few of those home made signs or coke displays done in wood. The problem is that Coke has been making such nice point if sale stuff for decades, they kind of don't look as nice even if they were used as retail advertising.

I wouldnt sell mine either. I`ve only ever seen one other and it was cracked .

Ive owned mine for about - 5 yrs . was originally stand mounted underneath but I modified it to roof mount and made brackets to suit. I can change it back if required .

I love the coke stuff also, steadily building a collection- mainly genuine commercial stuff.

Yeah having finally found one, I love it. It's so big, and unlike a lot of the other coke lights out there. I think it looks awesome on top of my Coke Machine, and it lights up my man-cave all by itself with enough light to be comfortable.

The commercial/point of sale stuff is the real shit. All of my collection is just that, but it didn't start on purpose. After getting my Coke machine, I started looking for a topper display to dress up the flat top of my machine. Now I seem to love collecting commercial coke lighting and from there other commercial pieces after I bought my first commercial light.

Oh, what other coke stuff do you have?

Indonesia- the home of thousands of Coke bottles...being used as after hours petrol containers.

There are thousands of these little roadside stands where you can buy a bottle of Benzine (as they call it), for around $1 AU ( 10,000RP).
