Wassup guys :-D So after resurrecting the $10 hankin (which is on all day every day in the office, loving it!), I have welcomed a new house guest:

This belongs to a mate of mine, he helps me work on my Torana, and I help him with electronics...its a great partnership!

Some more snaps:

Theres a bit of work to be done on this to get it going, the monitor is dead, the power supply needs replacing (as you can see in the photos, it's been changed more than once), and a few of the buttons are jammed. There's a big stepdown sitting in the bottom of the cab, for the monitor (and probably for the power supply in the past).

There are two boards, one is a Kung Fu style game and the other one my mate couldnt quite remember, he said it was a good one though.

Anyway, it's quite nice having this thing hanging around the house....

It's a lowboy, rather than a cabaret. Love LAI style lowboys, they are such iconic Aussie cabs.

Thanks man, you have just expanded my vocabulary... What are the identifiers between each style? Is it the lack of a marquee up top?

Cabarets are like a small version of a larger style cab. The most iconic cabaret cabs were made by Atari, although Hankin made some classy Australian ones. This is what an Atari cabaret looks like.

There were other variations, but they follow the same basic style. Cabarets are usually skinny, single player cabs. Lowboys are generally 2-player and a bit wider, but still a shrunken down version of a full sized cab. Aussie lowboys were one of the most common cabs to find in the country, as they were built here, were cheap, and were smaller, so you could fit more games into the space.
