Linear flipper mechs

Recommended Posts

Had a bit of a play today with my sloppy (left) linear flipper mech on my Centaur, done lots of reading on these things and thought I would try something different. Found a sealed bearing, $3.50, from a hobby shop that fitted perfectly in the plunger, cut the nylon piece off the crank and attached the bearing.(just a screw with loctite at this stage)

Put the mech back together, reinstalled and tried it out, very smooth, tight and quiet compared to the right one. Can't say its more powerful but it feels nice.

This is version one, be interesting to see how it performs over time.20180722_150814.thumb.jpeg.3b7dfd8f9ba53c53eae9b56fead95228.jpeg20180722_150838(0).thumb.jpeg.dbd9023bec835ba47be071ad7eed5896.jpeg20180723_144016.thumb.jpeg.bf3e07dcb7e353f6a27e24aa14aad22f.jpeg20180723_144031.thumb.jpeg.f13ee6ff986828aec14216132834ea12.jpeg

I like it. Certainly an improvement over the original linear design.

Maybe a spacer between the pawl and the bush once the design proves itself if needed but you have got rid of the rubbish part of the original design, the nylon tip.

Always interested to seeing improvements on pinball assemblies.
