CNsylvester
Hi everyone, I'm in my 50s and i"ve been proudly playing since electro mechanicals were in in every fish and chip shop and all were 20c for 5 balls. A great memory I have is in the late 1970s on Channel 0 (now 10) and it involves Jackie McDonald (well before Hey Hey its Saturday fame). Jackie had a Saturday morning cartoon show on channel O and, for period of time, she had a Mata Hari on her show. WOW, this was my first introduction to digitals. The purpose / reason for the Mata Hari was ...... kids were asked to write in to win a prize. To win the prize, Jackie would set up Four Player and pull the pin (no flipping) and each 'player" would get a score for ball #1 (no other pins were pulled) Then, which ever score was the highest after one ball, that kid would win the prize. The TV camera would show the Pinni, the ball bouncing around, magic stuff as a kid. Anyway, growing up my favorite Pinball Arcade was the old Picture Theatre in King St, Cotton Tree on the Sunshine Coast. That's where I first played one Christmas (1978/9?) a Bally Kiss. WOW!. Then, when I started working in about 1985 and began earning money, I saved up and bought my own pinball. (No that's not true) I actually bought TWO, a) Bally Kiss and b) Bally Lost World. I bought them for $680 and $640 respectively. At the time the company that I bought them from in Fortitude Valley was moving on a lot of digitals. The company was United Coin. At the time they were dumping stuff and so I offered to take it, he (Perry Hancock) was delighted I was taking it all away for him. The stuff included 12 individual playfields (all only playfields) in various stages of dismantle, I recall there were two Cleopatra's among them but I've since sold 11 of them and kept one that was almost complete (its in storage, can't remember exactly which one it is, mainly blue fire images and with a dracula image on it ... could be wrong. It will one day hang on my man cave wall or be a coffee table. I've still got the orginal State Government "registration" labels for each. I'll try and attach a photo. I kept a small box of parts, for example inside is an orange post from 6M$ man Bally, and various targets and rails, junk at the time, handy stuff now. My favorite modern machines are PinBot (my first ever multiball play) and IJ Adventure. I do some radio announcing on Saturday Nights at a local community radio station at Redcliffe (997FM). When a Kiss song comes on, its played exceptionally loud in the studio. I also play Pinball Wizard a lot, just because I can. Keep up the great work! Kenny Update, I just found a completed "Quality Control" document inside my Kiss Manual when it was owned by United Coin, check it out! Andyj965
Welcome to AA Kenny. I used to go to the Pleasure Centre in Cotton Tree a lot over the Christmas holidays every year. It was an awesome place. Was gutted when it burnt down.

CNsylvester
Well, after visiting Pincadia and 1Up last weekend, It's inspired me to go back and listen to some music that was played in the arcades in the 1970s when some of us were feeding pinballs and space invaders all our pocket money, one 20c piece at a time. So this Saturday night 24th Feb, at 9pm, I'm thinking of playing 3 songs in a row on the radio that are quintessential arcade songs. The three I'm thinking of are 1) Pinball Wizard (The Who), 2) Space Invaders (Player 1), 3) Computer Games (Mi-sex). Are these the most popular Arcade related songs? spook
Welcome to AA Kenny .... we probably tripped over each other at Cotton Tree at some stage in that era. Some good memories there!
CNsylvester
Thanks Spook, agree & I always remember the walk from the footpath off King St into the old theaters 'side door'. The walkway had signs on every post that read "No Loitering" and I never new what that meant at the time, but in fact its all I did as kid, loiter ....... ie find two coke bottles, return them, that's 20c, there's a pinball game!
