GnR. Hi I fu#*ed it?

Scotty T

Question

Hi,

I visted a member who was kind enough to flash new GnR Display chip and main CPU chip.

I've since put these new chips (Still got the old German ones).

The DMD does not display at all, and only half the light on the back box light up..

I;ve tried poutting the old ones back in and same thing happens..

ONly thing I can think of is, would it matter which what the Eproms go in, I wasn't sure if they were upside down or not, but did take pictures of the existing ones, so I now they were in the right way...

So I guess I've screwed something as it should be working with the old Eproms?

As far as I know yes they need to be in a correct position. Am i wrong? :unsure

The eproms have a small indentation on the surface of the chip. Very important to re install new one in same position. A lot of people insert them and bend legs back without noticing. They should fit firm, but pushed in without excessive pressure.

Yep, noticed that after the fact!... I can't imagine having the eproms in backwards would damage the baords, but what would I know....?

Update.....

I forgot totally that the Pinball is plugged into an Oragne HPM

Got new roms from Trav (Thanks)

Thought I must have done a Bridge Rectifier or something, as nothing was happening.

Then I remebered *bing*, it's pluged into a saftey swith thingy (see pic).

I originally was going to say to check all your connections. :D Glad you got it sorted.

Now, I'll move it to Solved! Or should it go in the Guides section as a guide for other people? :badgrin

Cheers,

Dan
