millsy56
Mustang has jumped the queue (in front of the sweet hearts) for a refresh - need the space. First task is to repaint the cabinet and head. All artwork is traced (for later alignment) and Images are scanned through Photoshop and files saved as psd files and then edited in photoshop ready for exporting to the vinyl cutter. (for the stencils) Paint is stripped and primer/sealer applied ready for filling. Edited December 5, 2021 by millsy56
Autosteve
Nice, I quite liked Mustang / Bronco. Most didn't stay in operation to the end of there useful life as the Solid State era started and mentality quickly become an SS or I change to an operator that will supply me an SS. This vintage Gottlieb were boxed up and warehoused. I remember seeing hundreds in one warehouse owned by Goddards in Ultimo where they stayed till LAI bought the lot when they bought Goddards. They reappeared several years later and were sold off to the public at usually around $100 for single players, $200 for a twin player and $3-400 for a four player. Two of my mates and I were doing weekend work for one such seller of these machines on Parramatta Road. We would pull them out of the boxes and power the machines up. Surprisingly most booted straight up, were quickly cleaned and put in a showroom where the public would come in and buy them. That guy was selling around 30 each day over the weekend and many times was selling them as we wheeled them out from the workshop into the showroom. We were getting paid $20 a machine, something I laugh about now as I write this but in those days $100 a week was an average week's wage and we could knock out 20 machines a day between the three of us. millsy56
2 coats of water based enamel applied, Stencils cut out by the vinyl cutter Lined up with the trace paper Then hand drawn onto the head The cut out self adhesive vinyl is then applied. Most important part - apply primer/sealer paint over the area to minimize paint bleed. Ready for first colour - Red Edited December 5, 2021 by millsy56
