Estimated cabinet cost - Start out

Recommended Posts

For this Aussie Lowboy it cost around $450-500 for everything you see here.

Costs will vary depending on what type of wood you use, how big the cabinet is and where you source it from, Bunnings ply is crap so I'd recommend using Mr Plywood for that but if you're gonna go with MDF and apply side art then Bunnings is okay.

2 x Joysticks - $30 (Game Dude, Jaycar or Ebay)

14 Buttons - $88 (Game Dude, Jaycar or Ebay)

3 Metres of T-Moulding - $45 (Game Dude or Ebay)

100 Self Tapping Screws - $15

2 x Cabinet Locks - $24

Marquee Perspex - $15 (Al's Plastics, Moorooka)

Toughened Glass Bezel - $80 (Australia Glass, Acacia Ridge)

2 x Wheels - $12

Piano Hinge - $6

6 Metres 30x30 Aluminium Angle - $50

2 Metres 20x12 Aluminium Angle - $15

1 Metre of T-shaped Aluminium - $8

2 Cans of Flat Black Paint - $22

Add abut $80 more if you want a metal control panel fabricated.

$200-300 for Side Art, Marquee and CPO adhesive vinyl artwork.

If you haven't built a cabinet before you'll also need a 28mm drill bit for the buttons and a slot cutter for the T-Moulding.

Yeah 4mm is thin.

Last replacement 6mm toughened glass with tint I got for a lowboy was $45 about a year ago...... No clue if that's cheap or not, but if people are paying around $80 as above, my price could be because I've bought thousands of dollars worth of glass from them and I know they have my business in their accounts system and so probably get a special rate???
