Namco system 256 able to play backups?

Hi all I recently got a Namco system 256 now I got soul calibur 3 and Tekken 5.1 is on the way to me now with the dongle included. The disc drive has being replaced in this unit but im just worried about the life of the discs the Tekken 5 that's on the way is in an Acceptable condition what ever that's suppose to mean.

 

Guess im just worried I bought a game that's not going to work in a month or two.

 

Has any other Namco 256 owners made backups? I've scanned Google but it came up with half ass answers some say yes and say no and one says with a aftermarket disc drive u can. But I don't have a DVD burner to test this with soul calibur 3.

as far as i know the security is in the dongle. i cannot confirm from my own experience but i believe a backup will work in a 246 (that's all i have looked at).

Yeah you can burn backups of original discs as long as the dongle is corresponding to the games they will work fine

Thanks guys yeah I have the dongle for Tekken 5.1 and soul calibur 3 might pick up a DVD burner
