What's with the goat?. A new form of spinner?. I say spinner because I always thought Williams should of put a spinner in that location rather than those stupidly hard for the ball to push down rollovers they persisted in using.

Nearly as stupid as Bally bringing them back out of the shit bin to use on there World Cup Soccer.

Triple Strike is an awesome game. It reminds me of Bally Strikes and Spares but an EM.

I've had about 5 or 6 of these over the years until I found a good one. The one recently at the Goat Shed is beauty. :023:

My bitch was the rollovers and wished they did used Gottlieb style rollovers instead but I suppose the style they used added a bit of variability in the way the ball rolled off and around them.

As for the game being sparse, yep probably but back in the day when the reward of pinball was a longer game or getting to play another game for free, it did that.

It's actually a shame modern machines are more into modes rather than these two basic goals I think but then again who cares about a free game when every game is free I suppose.

It used to be all about playing for a game again for free...A free game was "the jackpot" and nearly as good was an extra ball because that helped you getting "the jackpot".

Now days it is about a long game time for everyone and jackpots of no real meaning.

To me modern pinball is a bit like playing a poker machine without any payout. The reward for good play used to be another game for free but now it seems to be built around making a long game even longer.

After having many a pinball setup in the lounge room of the many houses I have lived in, it didn't matter where you were in the house, the knocker was a sign of how good the player was but these days same conditions except modern machines, knocker noises are rare, big scores and long game times are the normal and a processor setup like a pokey's where free isn't tolerated.

A bit of a shame I think.

Rant finished.:redface

While these older games and, even older ones (woodrails) at that, may have seemed sparse and simple, a lot were far from it.

The marks of a good game came down to one fundamental thing that made pinball, PINBALL! That was the ability to make you put another coin in to play it again, to try and achieve the pinball machines objective. Most of the time, it was easier said than done. However, the objectives were made to tempt you and to try and reach them, usually coming very close.

One solid state game that I see players keep going back for more is Sinbad. To get 5 times and "ecky" ball and "specs" in one ball or one game can be done, but for most players, it takes a while.

Back to Triple Strike, to get all three strikes can be done, but it can take time to get it. Racking up the "bono's" is half the fun.
