Ive considered restoring one a few times over the years, But not enough money in them for me to be able to restore and sell. Had one bloke asked If i would restore one but he never sent it which is a shame because It would have been fun.

As a kid, I really wanted to be 'that guy' working at the dodgems that got to jump from car to car, swinging on the uprights, with the contact sparking on the mesh above.

That guy was always a legend in my eyes.

I wanted to be that guy too, until i saw "that guy" riding on the back of one, with his leg dangling, foot on the floor, then a kid crashed into him and broke his ankle ! :o Since then the carny folk can have it !

I have a Toyota echo. Sparkler on the aerial and I can relive all those fantasies.

yeah the $800 one is pretty much what im looking for.just getting down there and carting it back to qld .maybe early next year. the other coin op one is not what im looking for. there was a classic 50s one at the rockhampton swap about 8 years ago, like american pickers find.it started off at $1500 but ended up selling for $600,not to me unfortunately. i will keep searching!
