I realise spiking the HV is going to increase the ionising radiation, and that changing resistance/impedance is going to alter a circuit. But is he right in his claims, if you can call them that, that a different yoke can unhook the HV that way? Can you consider a short, sharp DC buck-boost ripple as an AC circuit? I will admit i have no idea how to calculate for AC.

 

EDIT: isn't this why only certain tubes can be swapped without modification, because the HV is tied to the B+ through the winding in the flyback, and if the B+ drifts, you'd trigger the x-ray protection or beam current limit circuits, or just bleed through them?
