Loud Static in speakers

Question

Good Morning Group;

Several years back, I purchased a Rock-Ola JukeBox Model # 490-2 , Super Sound 2

My wife and I enjoyed it for years until approx. two years ago, after the unit was playing for a while (after warming up) a large static sound, loud enough to drown out the music, would occur. It's been turned off and not used since then. we recently purchased some new 45's and now have a renewed interest in our jukebox. However the problem still exist.

someone a while back suggested it might be a capacitor or a broken solder joint in the audio amplifier.

We live in Northern Wi and I have been trying to locate a service man with no luck in our area.

I could probably repair it myself if I knew where to look. (I have a little electronic experience )

I did purchase a operating manual which came with a wiring diagram.

I could not find a service manual with a trouble shooting guide.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Jerry

The amps in jukeboxes are fairly specialised with some hard to get capacitors and other parts

First check I would be looking at was dry solder joints so it might be any easy fix with no parts required otherwise a local expert might be of greater assistance

I would try buying a serviced/working amp from a dealer/on line. and see if that fixes the problem. if you have the same problem after installing the new amp then you have another issue.

you could always sell the new amp back online and not be to much out of pocket.you cant borrow an amp?

Before doing this check all the connectors are good and the earth, i think these machines have an earth cable to the amp.
