while you are doing the white don't forget the inner cab that sits above the playfield rails, makes a huge difference.

Not my first rodeo tony.

Soaked the rusted and filthy bumpers bkts and plungers.

Came up beautiful without even polishing. Just scrubbing and wiping dry.

Vinegar and bicarbonate overnight.

Doesn't bicarb just react with vinegar to make water and CO2 or something? Bit of dish soap and red food dye and it's a science project volcano.

I wonder if the bicarb is just limiting the action of the acid. *shrugs* Next time I have to do rusty stuff I will have to have a play around.

That taped up lightbox almost looks better than a painted one. [emoji38]

EM restorations (what’s coming through the Goatshed)

I came up against this a couple of years ago. If your happy to buy new stars, this worked a treat...

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/how-to-block-off-the-star-rollovers-prior-to-spraying-with-varathane

Had thought of that but I think cutting out after curing is better result.

Also old ones come out and reuse as spare parts in other stuff.

I don’t mind trimming. Plus make sure the centre hole is plugged up first.

I don't know. It seems to be turning out ridiculously good the exact way you are painting that cabinet as is to me.

Never had to do a full cabinet repaint myself but I did do many partials.

A couple of large sheets of paper held in place using drawing pins and trace each colour image through one sheet at a time was how I was taught.

Once all the different colour papers were traced and cut out, use the original drawing pin holes as the reference to place one sheet on at a time.

Used a paint roller to reapply the paint colour.

Probably a butcher's method but I seemed to work out fine to me.

You'll have to excuse me, when I was doing it there was no internet to get advice from. You just had to come up with a feasible method on your own.

Yeah I been thinking how to do the cab for some time.

Didn’t want to make stencils which is sorta like you did,

had thought of using the low tack clear that comes off the stencil to cut out but haven’t used the EK ones yet.

So this was next easiest way I could think of at short notice.

EM restorations (what’s coming through the Goatshed)

With all the rain, it’s giving me time to spend all day in the shed polishing the metal parts after soaking.

Stripped the drop target bank.

Polished up with autosol after rust removal.

Also the centre ball kicker.
