What parts are needed for a Naomi setup in an Atomiswave SD cab

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Just been exploring the option of getting a Naomi setup for my Atomiswave SD cab and not sure of all the bits needed. Mainly if and what type of power supplies are needed or not and probably any other cables.

So here's what I think I need

  • Naomi Motherboard (with Rev H Bios?)
  • GD ROM Drive
  • GD ROM Mounting Bracket
  • GD ROM Cable
  • Naomi NetDimm
  • Capcom or Sega Naomi I/O board (any difference?)
  • Naomi Sound Amp
  • Naomi Sound Amp Transformer

I assume if I'm only using GD ROM images then I don't need the GD ROM drive?

Can someone please verify what is needed.

Cheers.

If you just want to play the cart based games all you really need is:

Naomi MB - $80ish

Capcom I/O and cables - $150ish

That's it.

You shouldn't need anything additional for audio as the Capcom I/O will handle everything. E.g. video, audio, controls.

The Sega one does the same job (the big metal encased one) but doesn't utilise a cps2 harness for 6 button controls. Doesn't really matter, just grab what you can find cheaper.

P.s. The smaller/cheaper single pcb Sega I/Os won't handle the required 3.3v power.

Not sure what an Atomiswave cab has/if it's jvs capable.
