Why can't I delete this partition..?

Sorry looking at wrong drive.

Your drive would appear to be formatted as MBR.

To use the full 4TB, it needs to be formatted as GPT.

 

Of course, this will require a full wipe and reinstall.

 

 

 

Very common issue. UEFI with MBR will max out around 2TB. You'll have to change the partition to GPT. Unless you have a 3rd party software to change it over, Windows will require you to reformat the drive.

 

 

 

google "convert mbr to gpt without data loss" lots of solutions. Research, backup your disk and have at it.

 

Make sure your BIOS can boot from GPT.

 

Make sure your OS can boot from GPT (read this from windows)

Its only a data drive..

I used the diskpart command from an elevated Dos prompt.

 

Thanks for the pointers.

I was going to say diskpart. I had this same/similar problem 3 times within about a month working on a few of my mates computers. It took a fair amount of jacking around to find the answer at the time.
