Snes pal 60hz mod. What do I need?

Hi. I want to do the 60hz mod on my snes as it bothers me now that I know I was playing Mario 17% slower. Do I just need 2 switches and a resistor to perform this?

 

I don't mind having switches on it and also do they just have to be 2 way switches?

May as well do the region mod while your in there.

I used the same page as well about 8years ago, makes a huge difference especially if you like your fighting games that extra bit of speed makes it much more enjoyable

I'd recommend the superCIC mod. Much nicer than having switches mounted and better compatibility.

Pretty sure my other snes has this, that's the one where the reset button does it all? Hold 2seconds to change between 50/60

Yep, that's the one. There's also a third 'auto' mode which selects region based upon the cart inserted.

Just so you know. You're not playing Mario at 17% slower speed, as Nintendo optimised the massive majority of their games for PAL. This means the speed is the same but you have black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

 

Sega on the other hand was ****ing terrible at optimising their games for PAL. The difference between PAL and NTSC Sonic is amazing.

SFII wasn't PAL optimised! Feels like you're playing in slow motion.

How much is the mod these days?

Not sure but definitely more than an ntsc model

Mod is cheap. There's a guy on ebay who sells pre switchless modded SFCs for $60 or he can sell you a modded motherboard only for $30 for you to transplant.

That's pretty cheap, then you wouldn't have look at a ntsc console lol, really didnt like em ☺

Absolutely hideous, aren't they. They ruined the PC Engine as well.

Yes. So there's 3 modes.

 

Mode 1 - 50Hz

Mode 2 - 60Hz

Mode 3 - Auto

 

In auto mode, it detects the region of the cart and applies region/Hz based upon what the cart is.

 

You can also optionally have it delay switching by 7 seconds for carts that detect an incorrect Hz setting. I disable this feature as I prefer to have control.

 

It's the best way to region mod the console. No switches, power LED changes colour to indicate mode and 100% compatibility with no input required from the user.

I could never get Mario RPG to work though, think there was a mod for the cart you could do, some cartridges apparently worked and some didn't unless used with an original ntsc console.
