Transport Alternatives - Post Prowler?

Railways

Yep, found the same, pickup from Sydney assured three times with no communication and no show.

Have now got in touch with Mark, hopefully pick up on his way through Sydney Saturday.

Mark is due to collect my machine from Gold Coast today and deliver to me this weekend in Sydney too - been a tough few weeks but hopefully through all our shared experiences we've been able to sort the wheat from the chaff in terms of delivery options going forward.

I'm still waiting for an enquiry I made on the 18th of January :)

After reading your experience, I'm kind of glad he didn't reply and Peter from Hytech gave me a call within 30 minutes of sending an enquiry.

My machine was picked up on the 29th and in my possession by the 1st.

Yes, Peter was very responsive to my initial enquiry too and will certainly consider using him in the future. Unfortunately at the time I enquired there was a long wait until he started his run up to Queensland.

Has anyone in Qld (Brisbane) had anything delivered by Peter from Hytech since this whole prowler thing has happened?
I believe he's not doing a QLD run till march?

Mark from Needacourier picked up my machine as scheduled on Thursday and delivered to me in Sydney this morning. Good service, reliable, friendly and very helpful (strong!) getting the machine in the house. Highly recommended.

Jeff

Can you please update the first post with any of the good suggestions that have worked out!!

That way it can be found easier.

So far there is bet7676 and the other mob mentioned that turn up.

Maybe then they can be added to a transport Sticky if they work out well.

Just a thought.

Awesome job from Mark @ needacourier.com.au

best contact is- quotes@needacourier.com.au

Super efficient & quick correspondence, wouldn't hesitate to use again.

Don't bother with milan over 3 weeks waiting, multiple chances given, lost count on failed pick ups with Zero communication,

If you don't/want to do the job, FFS say so & then WE all can move on,

how Fnk hard can it be :021:

That's enough for now I'll leave it at that! :lol

Hi Guys as promised I would update on my Freight experience with Caloundra Removals & Storage <admin@caloundraremovals.com.au>

I dealt with Tony and he was very professional and provide a great service, picked up on time and delivered when promised.

I explained to Tony the situation that the pinball community is in at present and how difficult it can make things sell and move or even wanting to buy a machine from interstate but don't as your not sure if you can get to you, this was a luxury having Prowler to rely on, anyway Tony gave me prices depot to depot which i think are very reasonable to say the least

Melbourne/ Sydney depot to Townsville $220

Brisbane depot to Townsville depot $180

Sydney depot to Brisbane $180

They can pick up from where ever you want for an extra charge.

A local courier could be easily pick up and drop off to depot for a cheap rate I'm sure

Like I said I had a great experience and hope some of you guys experience the same

The end to end cost will probably still exceed $400 unless you have a ute or a van with depot to depot - keep that in mind. You've also got the issue of it being moved between vehicles twice on the run, chance of damage goes up.

It does work for some people, but I know I'll never do it again. Door to door or bust.

+ for hytech for a NIB machine delivered. Guy was a bit of a noob with pinballs but I'm sure he will catch up pretty quick with all the extra work he will have.

Cannot believe how many people have messaged me telling me not to use Milan for literally wasting everyone's time. Strike him off the list.

I put my 2 cents worth in by supporting Milan communication has never been his strong point but he had been reliable up to now as it would seem

Alex did say the Caloundra boys will "pick up from where ever you want for an extra charge" so door to door is possible. Although I understand your point with the extra handling.

This may be a valid solution for the East coast folks.

Transport Alternatives - Post Prowler?

Seems to be a real mixed bag of positive and negative experiences with most of the transporters tried here. Some have issues with setting customer expectations, general communication and where they actually deliver directly to (door to door vs depot only). I don't think we'll find one specific company rather specific ones that are good for certain routes.

lets keep in mind some of the customers arent perfect either with their expectations of prime service and no frills prices.

You have to remember you're little more than a pest when you ring and say you have one item on the other side of town going interstate in a hurry and its a one off job.

Anyone moving freight is always going to service their contracts before they take your random annoying little bits.

"sorry i cant pickup your urgent 20 pallets a week job as i have to go on a 3 hour round trip to pickup a pinball machine for some guy" .. just .. wont .. happen ...

I get what your saying, the businesses we are trying to use don't match up with customer expectations. A have no doubt some people here will discover a few guys that best suit the situation.

I don't expect expedited white glove door to door service with gps tracking (wouldn't that be nice lol) but I'd like better than the other end of the spectrum where if the machines are actually picked up that they then disappear into a worm hole to maybe arrive.

Sometimes it's just the lack of communication that is a real bummer. 4 weeks with no idea where it is then to get a message at 4am saying you better be home today between 10-12 on a weekday. Surely the machine didn't just appear 2000km away over night without notice.

"Oh and you better have a fork lift at the residential address" o_O

Then HE doesn't answer his phone. Justify that anyway you want but that is just shit business at the end of the day.

you want to make this about a certain person then?

your attitude is a prime example of exactly what i mean..

every moved house?? did you do it yourself? milan for example moves house like 200 times a year. rain, heat, doesn't matter. hes carrying stuff...

so there he is in 40 degree heat personally carrying truckloads of furniture up and down stairs for people who pay him ON CONTRACT to do it .. and you want to sook he doesn't want to put a couch down to answer his phone for your one game?

find someone else hes not suitable for your 'requirements'.

and if you want to be insulting ..come over on wed night (hes here every week picking up games). you can meet him and have a nice cup of tea and tell him about what you think of his business in person.

Completely spot on Luke!

I have used him twice (once for pick up of a pin at very short notice, and once for delivery of a big bloody bookcase). I have recommended him before and will do so again. Give him a go, I'm sure you'll be happy.

Sounds exactly like when I was at Pincadia in Brisbane. Some people can talk tough using a keyboard but aren't able to socialise.
