Fresh Fish.......Tales cab closeups

Recommended Posts

Just finished this one and thought I'd add some closeup pics.

The machine was delivered "ready for decals". Well actually no, as you can see in the first lot of pics if decals were layed over this it would look horrible. a166d60161bb8417070d450e6d0777d5.jpg4deb515c7533255626842d74f870f6e4.jpgf2b3a447eede680520f9b4854da37193.jpg

Cab was completely resanded glued and clamped, repaired and then painted in 2pac as is my preferred method.

Didn't take a pic of it painted but you get the idea. If it's not prepared properly your wasting you time if you expect a good finish.

I added some closeups so you know what to expect if you send me a cab 😉

Looks very smart..!

Perhaps to keep things fair and level, you should consider taking out a site sponsorship to advertise your services..? Flagrant advertising is sort of frowned upon really, and its a small contribution to a great site and a great way of promoting your business to many many people. :)

Cheers.

Yes, very nice work Geoff. Love the 'rounded' decal finish on the corners. Just out of interest, do you use the wet or dry method for decal application? Personally I use the dry method and have great success (now) with it. Some others prefer the wet method as it allows for mistakes/adjustments and is forgiving. When I did my first decal job I was trying to trim the decals too close to the edge and press too hard with the blade, obviously causing minor timber damage that required touching up. Now I trim them back a little further from the edge of the cab, making it easier and causing no damage. I also use a felt tipped plastic art card initially followed by a firm rubber roller and hair dryer to get the adhesive on the decals to work better faster. Everyone has their own method that works for them and just interested in yours. Nice work indeed re the FT cab.

Thanks Glenn70. Because of my previous industry where guys would measure the alignment of decals (Trans-ams, GT's, race cars, show cars ect.) to get them mm perfect wet was the best method, not to mention the cost of some of these decals back in the day way too risky to go dry. Even after 20+ years experience l would never try a one piece trans-am decal dry but it depends on a few things like temp, size of decal, material ect.

Yes they are just pinball cabs but l prepare it as l would a show car and preparation is they key to any quality job.
