I must admit that moving to fortnightly meets this year, I thought we might lose a few people at each meet, so I cannot thank everyone enough for constantly turning up to each event. We also welcomed along no less than 5 new players along to the club this fortnight - we hope you all had fun no matter your result, and hope to see you back again soon!

Good afternoon,

Just one more sleep until the final BPC meet of the year. It's a BPC Christmas party at Netherworld to finish off the year.

We will kick off at 7pm with a social teams event, along with some end of year awards. Just $10 entry and everyone is welcome to join.

TOMORROW'S TEAMS EVENT - HOW DOES IT WORK?

For those who attended and participated in the teams event at the Brisbane Masters in 2017, you will already have a heads up on how this works. A shout out also goes to Russell Dagger for this, at this was originally his idea, with a few slight tweaks added in.

Basically, anyone wishing to play registers before 7pm, with players given a number based on order of registration. Once registration closes, we allocate players into teams of 3 at random using player numbers.

Once teams are sorted, each team is then given a number, with which first round matches are drawn at random. Each match is a single player, best of 3, head to head match. Every player of each team is to play 1 ball each for their team during each game. Teams can decide to play in any order they choose and coaching is encouraged/permitted.

The winners will be the last remaining team in the competition.

All extra little bits of info, such as how to determine the machines, order of play, etc will be revealed tomorrow night.

BPC AWARDS:

Who will win the first ever BPC End Of Year awards? What will be available to win?

Some of the categories include Club MVP, Most Improved Player, Best Female Player, Best Dancer, Best Dressed in Christmas Theme and more!

Come along tomorrow night to check it out!

WHAT'S ON:

As the 2018 calendar comes to a close, there's only a couple of IFPA events on the horizon, before 2019 brings us more:

* Fri 28th-Sat 29th Dec - Flipswitch @ Autographed Memorabilia

* Sat 5th Jan - Flip Frenzy @ Netherworld

There is also a non-IFPA, social Flip Frenzy being held at Pincadia this Thursday night, 20th December from 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome.

QLD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP - THE RESULTS:

The annual QLD State Pinball Championship was held on the Gold Coast this past 9th December. With 65 players in attendance, it was going to be a tough field for all to surpass and claim the title. In the end, it was a stunning display once again by the sublime Peter Watt in a Brisbane Masters Final rematch, taking down the #1 ranked Paul Jones to again become the QLD State Champion.

1st - Peter Watt

2nd - Paul Jones

3rd - Nicolas Noben

4th - Simon Baird

While it was said on many occasions over the tournament weekend, it has to said again that a huge thank you must go to all of the clubs, TDs, players and of course Jamin & Timezone for all of their support of the QLD State Championship. We have one awesome pinball community here in Queensland, as well as in this great country, and events like this where everyone bands together are proof of just that.

The event will return once again in 2019, and all details will be released in the near future.

***BREAKING NEWS***

Just as this email was about to go out, we received the fantastic news that the annual Brisbane Masters event is being included as part of the 2019 Stern Pro World Circuit. This is an early Christmas present for everyone involved, and the possibility has turned to reality due to all the hard work and support received from each and everyone of you over the past 4 years. This now puts not only the Brisbane Masters, but also Australian pinball on the world stage.

Whether you have attended only 1 or 20 BPC events throughout the year, no matter what the contribution, you have all made a difference and it makes my job of running these events all the more worthwhile.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the pinball community all the very best over the holiday season. Please stay safe, but of course enjoy whatever it is you might be up to. We hope to see you all again in 2019 (dates are below).

Happy new year BPC crew!

The first BPC event will take place on Tuesday 15th January, 2019 at Netherworld.

Full details for the fortnightly events, qualifying and finals information are in the first post of this thread.

The main change to this year's meet is that qualifying will now be 10 games, which will give players a little more value for money each meet, plus increase the TGP% for IFPA points

Once again this year, players who finish in the Top 3 for any BPC event during February-November 2019 will qualify for the 2019 QLD State Pinball Championship in December.

There will also be a few surprises along the way, especially in the lead up to the Brisbane Masters in August, as well as the Christmas Party at the end of the year.

I'd like to start off the year by saying a big thank you once again to Jimmy, Ben & the crew at Netherworld for hosting us once again. You guys rock!!

For those that missed the 2018 Christmas Party, here is the list of award winners from the evening (not including the novelty awards):

* Most consistent player in 2018 - Thibaut Allender

* Rookie player/Best newcomer in 2018 - Rob Burnes

* Fringe player award 2018 - Belinda Clissold

* Most Improved Player in 2018 - Mike Pascale

* Most attendances in 2018 (21 out of 22) - Dirk Booy & Dan Olejniczak

* 2018 Female Player of the Year - Emily Smith

* 2018 Club MVP - Chris Jennings

The Brisbane Pinball Club is back for first time in 2019 tomorrow night at Netherworld.

10 games qualifying, top 16 finals if more than 32 players. Qualifying open from 4pm-9pm. Chris Wade will be running the show tomorrow night as I am unable to make it down. $15 entry, and all are welcome to join in.

Short and sweet post tonight - having trouble with emails and unable to send out to everyone in its normal format.

Keep your eyes peeled in case of other major events coming up on the horizon! QLD is the pinball capital of Australia after all!!

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

A number of you would be aware that I was lucky enough to finish 2nd in the Australian Pinball rankings for 2018. This gives me the opportunity to represent Australia at the 2019 IFPA World Championship, alongside 'the machine' Paul Jones, in Italy in June later this year. There have been a number of fundraising opportunities that have been set up for both PJ & I to help minimise expenses for the both of us already this month, which have definitely not gone unnoticed.

I would like to take a moment now to thank everyone involved to date. From hosting fundraising tournaments, to the donation of a pinball machine for auction, then to the Paypal account and donation tins set up in various venues - it is all a bit overwhelming to know that there is such great support by the pinball community. I thank everyone for playing their part and for their donations to date and in the future. I am truly grateful!!

FAREWELL

See you all on the flipside. May your drains be few and your jackpots be plenty!

Cheers,

Lambo
